They should’ve been the Loons. Where: There When: Tomorrow (Sunday 4/28/2019) - 1:30PM Eastern/10:30am Pacific - Mountain and Central can do the math. Why: Because we must Lineups and Tactics: [emoji23] James
I have to admit that the conservative road tactics of thinking defense first and keeping the lines tight has been effective. It has protected the back four, minimizing the number of times our central defenders have had to defend 1v1 in open space. We commit fewer numbers in to the attack and hope that we will capitalize on one of few moments with our class players, or score on a set piece. It's not pretty, but it has avoided leaking goals on the road.
Not to be an a--hole, but most MLS teams simply do not have enough quality to break down a well organized low block. However, one mistake or one good through ball and you are sunk. It seems like we are daring the opponent to send in a quality ball or have one moment of poise in front of goal but, to their dismay, they are incapable of it. I still prefer more mid block defending. I will say that DCU did a bit better job of mixing in more mid block in the last game. We only really sat back in low block for the last 15 min. In general, the mid block was effective when used. We confronted the opposition further up the field. I can only remember one time that Columbus was able to send a ball behind the back line and the central defenders were force to run in open space. On the that occasion, Brilliant was able to stay with the attacker and come up with a great open field tackle. It's a calculated risk. If the opponent is great in the air, we need more mid block. If the opponent has fast/smaller attackers that can get behind our back line, we may need more low block in the mix. However, we still need to engage the opponent a little further up the field and out wide to prevent easy service in to the box. Either way, I guess we'll have to buckle up and be prepared to sweat it out/suffer while watching these road games. Vamos!
Goff reports there will only be 17 players today. How can we not have 18 at this point in the season?
25 man roster. Five on injury report. Canouse didn’t travel and is nursing an injury. Edwards in Loudoun, Yow to the U-18’s. Thx, Jay!
Every road game is tough in MLS, but it looks like a great opportunity to pick up at least a point. Looks like they had three games this week, too. So, no excuse there. Any line ups yet? Is it three in the back again, or back to the 4-2-3-1?

There was mininal contact there for me. Of course, I'm biased. Lalas didn't think it was "clear and obvious".
Up side: We are now so dangerous on set pieces including corners, largely thanks to Rooney. So different from United teams of the past.
Arriola finally calling out Acosta for never, ever passing the ball to someone other than Rooney. #DCU #MINvDC— Jay! (@JayRockerz) April 28, 2019 Don’t know if it was exactly that, but Acosta was getting up in Arriola face and they were bickering.
Pretty sure the dude behind Brillant had a handful of his jersey to prevent a decent header attempt there...
