WE ALL LAUGH AT A YELLOW FOOTBALL TEAM!!!!!!! Later Sat. eve games seem to mean more traffic problems. Anything weird like a second Cherry Blossom Festival or a planned ride by all those 4-wheelers scheduled for downtown this weekend? The time of this game puts any tailgating squarely during the Kentucky Derby - someone please bring me some extra mint syrup for my bourbon - oh, and feel free to bring me some better bourbon too You know where I park by now Please tell me the team has not scheduled any Star-Wars™-related activities. Lie if you have to. I hope the Columbus bus is delayed getting past Winchester's Apple Blossom Festival Parade If they come in Friday night, maybe they'll be scared away by their Firetruck parade (which I'd probably be going to without this game being on Sat) They are gonna be mad that we made them look silly in front of all 13 of their home fans a couple weeks back, but can we get them to use that anger to our advantage with more yellow cards and more griping at each other, or will we just try to sit back and take their aggression? Canouse seems able to discourage more aggression toward Lucho than our other midfielders can, so let's hope he is back; I know he's been training - I even saw it on some TV news! this week on Channel 7. I predict we get out of our current funk and remember to score at home. DCU - 4 yellow team - 2 with the nice zoo right there, it's easy to google for baby animals in their unnatural ohio habitat
Saw a guy walking down the street wearing a crew jersey this morning. I've never seen any DC United gear in Oxon Hill. DC United 2 - Crew and their 1 PG county fan 1
Will we end our scoring drought? We've looked toothless recently: Rooney has been more of a provider than a finisher, although he's always a threat to score on a free kick. Acosta has underperformed of late, primarily because he tries the same old tricks against defenses that have begun to figure him out. Rodriguez can threaten, but not so much if he is counted on as a wide defender. I've always thought of Amerikwa as a disrupter - is it time to give him a start? And who would he replace?
The East Conference is mediocre at best, two teams like Philly and Montreal - by definition two mediocre teams - have our same exact points (same number of games played) and stand on top of the conference. TFC is two games short and has 4 points less.
The offense has been anemic since the loss of Mora. I do not think that this is due to poor play by Rooney or Acosta. I have not seen a lack of effort from either player. The loss of Mora's ability to create overloads on the left was a major loss. Then, it was compounded by the decision to place Arriola in positions where he was forced to expend a lot more energy on the defensive end, thereby limiting his thrust down the right side. The absence of effective flank play has allowed opposing defenses to clog the middle of the field, limiting the space for Rooney and Acosta to combine. Maybe the signing of Pedroso allows us to return to a back four, and Arriola can go back to the R wing. More penetration down the wings may allow Rooney and Lucho to find more joy in the center of the field.
Have to agree here. Not to be a d**k, but Amarikwa has shown me nothing. I get that it is probably hard to find a player to basically come in to a back up role, but come on. In general, I prefer a back up striker to either offer speed to stretch defenses and create space, or have a physical presence for hold up play and aerial finishing in the box. I guess I would also add a third archetype. It's the wily veteran with the unexplainable knack for being at the right place at the right time to poach goals. I have seen none of these qualities in Amarikwa. Sorry. During this recent offensive drought, we have still looked dangerous on set pieces. Looking through the old retrospectoscope, wouldn't it have been nice to have a striker off the bench able to come in and offer another legit threat in the box for corners and free kicks? Similarly, if our highest paid back up midfielder (Stieber) is an excellent crosser of the ball, wouldn't it be nice to have the option of bringing in a back up striker that is a good target in the box? Maybe both players could have success. Just sayin'. Amarikwa, if you are reading this, please make me eat these words .

Either Zardes fouled someone in the back before the turnover, or the Trapp/Acosta/Unkel collision was judged to have been a foul on Trapp.
