This is the place to discuss pre-season matches, friendlies, and trialists. Once the first pre-season match is underway this will replace the off-season thread. Can someone post the pre-season schedule below? James

In another thread I suggested that any Navix News Twitter is fake and thus unreliable. The guysis almost always injured so who knows? Kasper might see him as a perfect fit.
Seems like a perfect way to flush money down the drain. But since Kasper is never held accountable for poor decisions, it's perfect.
Last in the Eastern conf (and tied for worst in the league, I believe - and in an expansion year!) with well over a decade of experience in one job? I dunno. At best a checkered record bringing in talent even within the price range he's given. And lets not forget - no team comes close to bringing back the number of players who he terminated, a red flag for either poor decision making or lack of confidence/creativity. I give him credit for above average draft picks, when he doesn't trade them away. Of course this is just half the F/O equation. There's also the deep history of failure to develop players. See Nick Deleon. Clearly we don't have the management skills to teach him yet we have the unwavering decision to start him.
clearly I’m not talking about a successful 2017. i don’t see how he is in any way responsible for player development. that’s entirely on coaches
"Semi" competitive. That better describes that beer team from Ballimer. That's one of those "you don't sweat much for a fat chick" compliments when there's just nothing complimentary to say
Houston and Montreal paid less in 2017, but New England, Minnesota and Dallas are all pretty close. All of them had better records than us (base salary followed by compensation). What's interesting is that Houston, Montreal and Dallas all have their own stadiums but don't spend big money on teams, so can we finally put the correlation between stadium revenue stream and opening up purse strings? There is no correlation. (from https://www.denverpost.com/2017/04/25/mls-team-payrolls-2017/) 1. Toronto $20,153,697.00 $22,478,565.27 2. NYC FC $17,370,525.68 $17,930,365.69 3. Wonder what the cost per win is dividing the Overhead salaries (GM, Coaches, trainers, etc) by number of wins. Where's that bogus Audi MLS and VW Diesel pollution calculator when you need it?
not really overly generous. 2012 ECF appearance, 2014 reg season east title, 2015 final 4 in the east, 2016 en fuego for the second half of the season, awful home playoff loss. i’m not claiming anything here as a great success, but it’s semi-competitive at a bare minimum.
Excellent idea. I'll take a stab at cost per win, giving each team half a win for each tie because that's very scientific..... I'm going to guess Seattle got the best bang for their buck and they're smack dab in the middle of the table for money spent on team payroll. No way to know the management costs unless someone has that.
Since a high percentage of teams made the playoffs for most of that time period, I'd say your bare minimum is more a clothed average for me. I'd say United is a below average team paid below average money with a front office that has a below average record for identifying, paying for, and managing talent.
Salary is only one aspect of spending. FCD probably spends more on their academy than anyone in the league and Vancouver invests a fair amount into their academy as well which just had a player transferred to Barcelona. DC in comparison charges kids to join the academy
Might be my homerism, but I felt we had a real shot at winning the cup in 2012, 2014, and 2016. Real shot at winning MLS Cup = competitive. Obviously other may not feel we had the same shot. I'll leave it at that and we can agree to disagree.
