I'm fine with Bill wanting to test himself in Europe; it's every us soccer player's dream. The problem is his negotiations with the club seemed disingenuous and will harm the club as Bill will be leaving on a free transfer unless he signes with another MLS club. It makes complete sense for Bill to go to Europe this winter and try to improve his skills to try and make the World Cup roster--assuming we make it /crosses fingers/
I'd rather Bill go elsewhere on a free than see him on another MLS team in exchange for GAM/TAM or draft picks.
I wonder if Bundesliga might be the perfect place or not. I'd love to see him La Liga or Serie A. But not sure if teams drop a lot of $ or their non-EU spot for a foreign goalkeeper.
"Louisiana Viking" would seem to be a contradiction in terms. I'm married to a proud graduate of Baton Rouge High School, and, being 5'1," brunette, and of French-Alsatian stock, she doesn't look at all like a Viking - even a Ms. Viking. Did a Norwegian sailor suffering from topographical agnosia fetch up on the Louisiana Gulf Coast and, liking it, decide to settle there?
I went to that school my freshman year. One of the best schools in the whole state if I recall. Or at least 15 years ago it was. Sounds like a sweet Southern belle. I'm just a good ole boy who met a Swedish girl and took on the nom de guerre.
My wife remembers Latin, French, pre-Calculus, et. al.. But they did have a female "drill team" that marched with wooden "guns."
Like the lady sang "Romance without finance ain't got no chance" . And the lack of a transfer pop makes him just that more appealing to a club willing to give him a shot
There are some from Louisiana who contend that being from way up North in Baton Rouge makes you a Yankee.
They must be those somewhere around Hammond or maybe Lake Charles. But I've never heard that before. Most of those who might use Yankee as a slur would be around central part of the state.
About 5 decades ago in the Navy, and these boys didn't speak a language anyone would recognize as English. They said the next dry land to the South of their home was Mexico. Memorable pair of brothers

Emailed the FO about the NYRBMF fans setting off smoke and tossing flares over the upper deck railing and not a peep. This is not going to be pretty.
Stadium security let them in, and let them light the flare, and let them drop it nearly setting the tent on fire. Stadium security is the responsibility of EventsDC (part of the DC government). Not the FO.
This is 100% accurate. Everything about the club goes to the FO. You can blame the city, CSC, MLS, US Soccer, etc. but when you're talking about DC United everything falls to the FO. They need to be in the ear to Events DC as Shawn suggests. It has always bugged me over the years how DC United would try to duck issues about stadium, field condition, concessions, etc., and pin them on someone else.
Good I am glad they got punished, they should have for throwing the flare. And for using the flare in the first place.
Hardly a punishment as they won't have but one more game. But anything that causes a metro fan unpleasantness is good in my book.
