Remember when everyone was freaking out last season when they did this and everyone here was saying how god awful the FO was and it turned out to really be nothing at all. (Except a sold out Friday night and 3 points from the scum)

I still think it was awful then, what leads you to believe it wasn't simply stupid.

Now don't get me wrong, I loves me some cosplay and I like (though much less) a good marketing ploy. If the game falls on May 4th - go for it, knock yourself out, put me in an ObiWan robe. If the game's on the 5th do some asinine cinco de mayo nonsense - but this game isn't on that day, so it's 100% bullshit - 110% bullshit to use sports cliche terms ;)

It makes me nostalgic for the Hispanic Heritage Nights that were usually held when the Galaxy came to town over a decade ago. It may have made section 120 (later 118) dangerous but it was never boring.

The promotion has zero to do with my desire to attend a match.

Use Washington Politics terminology, the greatest assembly of bullshit in one place in the history of the universe (5,000 years)

The hashtag the Wizards were using in the postseason was #DCFamily and that's the shit that United puts out after a Game 7 loss. This is the time the organization should be building the fanbase up and reaching across the region and all fans of sports. Instead, they subtweet and piss people off. Dave Johnson calls the games for the Wizards' radio broadcast. It bothers me to hear him say stuff like "[Thomas] would make a soccer player proud [with his dives]," but ******** soccer and United. He's one of the biggest cheerleaders of the sport and the team anywhere and it's even taking a toll on him. It has been more than 12 years since United won MLS Cup. It has been more than 9 years since they had the best regular season in the league. We're coming up on the anniversary of a historically bad team winning a tournament most don't care about. The team looks and plays like shit and is near the bottom of the league in most categories, but some asshat thinks it's cute to put down another local team with a bad FO that's actually beginning to reach some potential. ******** United. ******** Tradition.

See, I didn't even consider the Bullets/Wizards loss in reading that tweet and being pissed off about it - I thought it was simply being dismissive of our own shit play at home against the (other) dregs of the league.
    Now I'm even more bothered.

They should be relevant and actually win before poking the corpse of Tradition.

It actually shows the failure of the FO's mentality. They believe they are great now because they were great then. There is a complete disconnect in how long it has been since we won anything of value (US Open Cup in 2013 is an abomination).

No doubt. It came across VERY poorly. If they were bashing DC-area sports coverage that should have been made clear.

And to post that after consecutive home shutout losses makes my head explode. The social media stupidity on display here is breathtaking.

This implies that someone in the FO recognizes that, once upon a time, things were much better for DCU, both on and off the field. That almost gives me hope. Next, maybe someone in the FO will realize that the current modus operandi wasn't always the MO and ask themselves what changed and why.

    Naaah. Never mind.
