Saw a tweet from the Academy that said they were starting a U19 Pre-academy team. Yes, you read that right.
U19 B-Team? $10 to try out? Why bother charging? It will probably cost the team at least $500 to process payment. Are they going to have 50 people show up and try out?
Yes, why bother charging. But this could be a way to keep an eye on the former U16 and U18 players. Not such a dumb move.
They could just go to the USL or College if DC didnt offer them a contract. But instead, pay 10 to tryout? Why would someone like Alexos Cerritos participate in that? When they could go try out for another club team in South America or maybe even Europe?
Because (1) they aren't good enough, and (2) they wouldn't be able to adapt to overseas living on the meager salary they would get.
They can't put together a consistent u23 program for college players but now this? You have to give it to them they are at least consistent.
If they arent good enough for the USL why are they for us? 2. How do you know? I know an armour kid who went down to Brazil and was fine, along with his friend who played DC U academy at an early age.

From the Post: A decade ago this youth soccer club rarely won. Now it has produced seven pros in recent years (Hint: It's not DC United)
What it means is as long as mommy and daddy have money little Brandon has exceptional potential juuuuust a little way ( $40-$50k) from manifesting itself.

All it is is the DCU 18/19 playerpool B team. It's U19 because of the USDA shifted from 17/18 to 16/17 and 18/19 to account for the birth year shift.

I rode by the Calverton School in Calvert County a few days ago. Wasn't this the school that was to be in some residential partnership with DC United? Or was this like all DC United parnerships that end after the initial press release?
According to these links it is active https://www.calvertonschool.org/admissions/dc-united-academy-program https://www.dcunited.com/academy/calverton-residency-program https://www.dcunited.com/camps/residential That price though is no joke...
