I like playing out of the back. But it requires defenders who handle the ball well. We don't have that. Hell, for the most part, we don't have midfielders who handle the ball well.
FYP. Hey, with four new guys in midfield, I'm going to get every mile I can out of this Rainbow-powered Unicorn of Hope.
Goff's best-guess lineup for the Colorado match has Arriola, Miranda, and Canouse starting. So let's see if our ball handling improves.
This is not really relevant to the post but it was announced this morning that Bruno Miranda, United's recently new sign, will be called up for the 2 qualifiers the Bolivian National team has coming up (8/31 & 9/5).
This is Bruno's opportunity to shine and I wish him all the best. In one week, he went from being mainly considered for 2018 (possibly Richmond bound) to having a spot on the bench and now to starting. Just as how quickly his situation has changed for the best, it just as quickly go in the opposite direction and I'm sure he knows this but he needs to perform very well on Saturday night so he can remain in the starting lineup. ¡Vamos United!
Just like Eurasia always has been at war with Eastaisa, NDL will play somewhere so long as Olsen is coach and NDL is healthy.
I still think/hope that there will come a time when Mullins and Miranda will be on the pitch together (as happened last match, briefly).
I still have some (unrewarded) hope for him there each time The thing about him that really bugs me is that he seems to tire at the 30 and 65-70 minute marks and slows dramatically - mostly on his recovering runs which leads to more defensive stress on the back line guys. If he could maintain his fitness later in each half I think he could overcome some other issues. Disclaimer: I could make one run maybe two and be done for the week, but then they pay me to think, not to run
After watching Arriola play with the Nats again tonight, the HR staff actually picked up a player not just a cadaver with a pulse as expected, He's more than adequate. .
If Hamid were to leave, I'd love for the Honduran GK to take his spot. I remember some reports stating interest a month or so ago.
There were some interesting cnversational snippets concerning how MLS has helped the other teams in CONCACAF as much as it has the US. It triggered a recollection of the runup (prelude to collapse) to France '98 where I believe MLS turned away from Canadian players because they played for an opponent.
I wouldn't use that as collateral on my Maserati (I wish) since everyone else looked well, pretty bad is being kind. But he's a plus for both squads
He's a very gifted and athletic keeper, and appears to have learned from mistakes of his youth. European teams should be very interested in him. But - He hasn't played in many big international (or internationally televised) games with either DC United or the USMNT, and he's been prone to some little nagging injury every season. I'd say he's the best US keeper after Tim Howard, but lack of big games and consistent injuries will keep him of the list of the big Euro teams. Maybe somebody who gets into the Europa League regularly.
I remember the reports of the club signing Clark earlier. So I wonder if any updates on whether Hamid leaves or signs an extension?
