    Honestly, I think Osorio had a better season, but I guess the wunderkid narrative wins out.

    Getting transferred to one of the world's biggest clubs also helps.

    I had the same thought at Initial B. Yes the trade was a big deal but it is more about potential. Give him the award if/when he lights it up in Germany.

    That is true. It's probably more about appearances as any award typically is. I'm sure that in choosing Osorio they'd face a backlash for passing up the new wonder kid and also perhaps of being Toronto-centric.

    ^ Then the complaint would have to be something like, "How dare they give the award to the Canadian with the most total goals ever for an MLS team*, the winner of the CCL Golden Boot, and the winner of the Canadian Championship top scorer award and George Ross Trophy - he's from Toronto!"

    * I don't think DeRo had that many in a single season but I'm having trouble finding the stats to verify it.
