Is this why Americans don't like watching Fox?

WARNING: 30 seconds of your life you'll never get back

Congratulations, Goliath, on the impending victory and everything, but maybe it's not a good metaphor. In the original Bible text Goliath died horribly (I won't quote it, it's too gross, but he definitely did).

When someone talks women's soccer mainly in terms of men's soccer - "Marta is the female Beckenbauer", "Bronze is the female Frank Rijkaard" - they aren't usually that well informed. Fox is talking in terms of... men's Bible battles

The haka is a sacred ritual.

And I find it outstanding that the Women's team does this, too.

A bit overkill, but yeah, crap.

Should have been more of a "can we repeat?" with highlights of other teams.

We all know that Fox soccer coverage sucks. I am dreading John Strong's constant recitation of irrelevant statistics. And, any appearance by Lalas.

Historically did Maori women do a Haka or was it reserved for men?

Women always have, even in the old legends. The rugby haka are most famous, but it isn't solely a 'war dance'. There are thousands of haka, for welcomes, celebration, mourning, protest - new ones get composed each year, usually mixed-gender, with music and singing. Kapa haka (team haka) is a popular social activity. The biggest competition is Te Matatini, this year it was at the Wellington stadium.

I thought it was more of a "summoning the spirits" dance, not all that different in meaning from many "native" peoples across the globe. Just that for rugby for New Zealand, it is was more war-like.
