I recon the group is ok , we must just have a good attitude and not be sacred .....
We can beat Portugal, just that openings game against France must make sure we get a draw or victory .

Most importantly we must hope that all our injured players come back into form
    Rudiger/Sane/Sule - especially

And having said that against Spain and Belgium in our friendlies next year hopefully Loew will get this tactic right against stronger teams.

I think we should stay with the 4-3-3 , like I said 2 years back already and not with 3 CB (which we dont have anyway)....

We should dominate the midfield again as we have the players for it - I still think in 2018 - we did not dominate the midfield often there where gaps between defense and attack, creating space for the Opposition.

Our defense is the biggest worries !~~~! you dont win tournaments with a bad defense.

I know its way early .....but this could happen and if it does and we win the Euros it would be the best result ever - I just had a quick look who we would face according the play format
Germany come second in the group with France and Portugal.
    1/8 play England
    1/4 play Spain
    1/2 play Netherlands
    Final play France

    Achtelfinale
    Samstag 27. Juni
    1: Switzerland vs Danemark
    2: Italy vs Ukraine
    Sonntag 28. Juni
    3: Netherlands - 3D/E/F
    4: Belgium - 3A/D/E/F
    Montag, 29. Juni
    5: Croatia vs Poland
    6: France - 3A/B/C
    Dienstag 30. Juni
    7: England - Germany
    8: Spain - 3A/B/C/D

    Viertelfinale

    Freitag 3. Juli
    Viertelfinale 1: France- Poland
    Viertelfinale 2: Belgum - Italy
    Samstag, 4. Juli
    Viertelfinale 3: Switzerland - Netherlands
    Viertelfinale 4: Spain - Germany

    Halbfinale

    Dienstag 7. Juli
    Halbfinale 1: France - Belgium
    Mittwoch, 8. Juli
Halbfinale 2: Sieger Germany - Netherlands

    Finale

    Sonntag 12. Juli
    France/Belgium - Germany

We would literally have to beat them all, best would be to finish first in the group ....not sure if we can really pull it off.... :(.... but if .what a tournament

    All cards are against Loew

U don’t need a definite back 3 or back 4 , modern football as we’ve seen in last few seasons is that they rotate between back 3 n back 4 throughout the match.

When u wanna defend, u can make the Deep Lying DM sitting deeper and play as a 3rd CB; or moving the RB as RCB , RW as RWB

u change the system for different purposes at different stages of the game

    Players like Kimmich, Emre Can or Koch play DM and can sit deeper to fill the CB role when we are defending;

    so it’s a system from back 4 to back 3;

when we attack n we need more players up front, we can move the playmaking CB forward as a “6”

    Makes the system very flexible

u won’t play a back 3 or back 4 for ninety minutes in a match nowadays, players have more movement n responsibilities .... the formation is more fluid

Same as attack,I think Goretzka is better suited as in a special role: rotate between 9 n 10. Just like Firmino and Kane. They do responsibilities of the “9” n “10”. Sometimes help out the midfield in build-up n counter pressing, when they’re in possession they move forward and play as “9”

it’s the type of role Goretzka should be playing as he isn’t very good with the ball, providing nothing much defensively , isn’t creative and can’t move the ball forward

he’s better off the ball, some hold up play and is an aerial threat/scoring threat. He isn’t a new Ballack, I don’t think Goretzka is as defensively aware as Ballack.

I m thinking about this 4312 formation, but the DM can drop deeper and form a back 3 when needed:

    ————————Neuer
    —-Klostermann-Sule—Rudiger—Gosens
    ————————-Koch
    —————Kimmich—-Kroos
    ————————Goretzka
    ———Gnabry————————Sane

Never heard of Gosens before... I see he plays left back in Italy mhhhhhhhhhh have no clue if he is any good. Anyway Maybe he will be like Mustafi when he joined the NT whilst playing in Italy.

I would have Halstenberg or Schulz at this point instead of Gosens, who has zero international experience and has never been called up before. Getting a bit late to try out new players before the tournament imo.

Nico Schulz is absolutely terrible in Dortmund this season, terrible in every game I watched and the worst player on the pitch

I hate the idea of guaranteed slot. Nico Schulz doesn’t deserve it if he can’t perform well

I think fullback is a rather easy position to try new players, same as wingers and a box-to-box

Coaches are usually conservative towards the core positions but fullback is not

    Gosens should be tried

too offensive ... we only have Kimmich n Kroos in midfield?

I m sure we will have serious difficulties dealing with counters. Like what happened in WC2018, only difference is we will have much better opponents in EC 2020

before we score a goal (we have some efficiency issue), we will concede 2. That’s how it is

for major tournaments , u wanna play defence first. France made it with four CBs at the back

u wanna control the game a bit more when u play Cup matches, especially when we reach knockout round

Winning 1-0 or 2-0 is better than losing 4-5 or 3-4

I don’t think we have better more efficient attackers too. So playing solid D and let’s make space for counter attacks should be the main objective

Yes I agree with getting our defense strengthened but playing 7 players in a defensive mode instead of 6 is a bit to much I recon......

But yes our defense is our Achilles

    It’s not too many defenders

    we are playing 2 CBs, 1 DM, 2 CMs ... 3 attackers

look at Liverpool, Man City, Juventus, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Ajax...

they are all play with such pattern:

    2 CBs, 1 DM, 2 CMs n 3 attackers

    Liverpool:

    2CBs - Lovren, VVD ;
    1 DM - Fabinho;
2 CMs - Hendo, Gini Wijnauldum

    Juventus:

    2 CBs: Bonucci, De Ligt;
    1 “6” - Pjanic;
    2 CM - Matuidi , Bentancur

    Barcelona:

    2 CBs : Pique, Lenglet
    1 DM: Busquest
    2 CM: Arthur, De Jong

    Real Madrid:

    2 CBs: Ramos, Varane
    1 DM: Casemiro
    2 CMs: Fede Valverde, Kroos

    Chelsea:

    2 CBs: Tomori, Zouma
    1 DM: Jorginho
    2 CM: Kante, Kovacec

    Man City:
2 CB: Stones, Fernandinho (Laporte injured)
    1 DM: Rodri
2 CMs: De Bruyne, David Silva

    -
    -
    U have 2 CBs, 1 “6”, 2 “CM” is a common pattern
What I m trying to say is:

    Germany:

    2 CBs: Rudiger, Hummels
    1DM: Koch
    2 CM: Kimmich, Kroos

we can also solidify our midfield and play that 433 with a solid foundation from the back for build up too.

Yes if you see the 433 like that but then I would rather play .......
    DM:Kimmich
    CM:Gundo/Kroos

    And For f sake

Kimmich and Kroos are not defensive players

In fact they are more offensive than defensive

we are playing 433 only, nothing special

    2 fullbacks
    2 CBs
    1 dm.

we Hv 5 defensive outfield players

Kimmich n Kroos at “8” ( one box to box , one playmaker)

Liverpool use such pattern to win CL too , Man City won EPL with 433

4231 is a formation I don’t prefer unless we have great DM or CB

We will concede three goals before we score one with this setup

    no protection to the back

I would like to have a 6 behind Kroos n Kimmich as both aren’t DM

Why so rude...... I thought this forum is about giving your opinion and sharing ideas in a positive constructive way.... yes sure we have different opinions which is great .

Koch still has to prove his worth and I think Kimmich has all the defensive skills required having played LB and CB (under PEP).. so he would suit DM way better then Koch does.

Anyway just my opinion... and am sure Loew wont play Koch at that position. I full agree with you though playing the 433....

I think Kimmich is more of an 8 when he’s used in midfield

I wish we have a Casemiro or Kante who can anchor midfield

Kroos is a midfielder who u need two other midfielders as cover, his coverage is always a concern.

4231 is an option if we have an elite DM

England play Declan Rice there at DM, he also drops deep and form a back 3 with Maguire and Keane to help out that weak CB pairing

I don’t trust Goretzka to cover midfield, he is more comfortable in the final third and he isn’t tracking back or helping defence as much as we want

if u have Kroos and Kimmich as the only midfielders, there will be a lot of holes and we become extremely vulnerable to counters

I’ll leave Gnabry, Goretzka and Sane/Werner up front.

    only one game

Rodri injures for two weeks, but out of 12 games he played this season. He started 11 games ... 10 at DM n 1 at CB

so the regular pair is always Rodri, De Bruyne n Silva. Gundogan is a primary backup or rotational starter

Nope ship has sailed. Low barely ever recalls players who've been left out for years. Germany wise Lars Bender was pretty decent when he played.

and both have had way too many injury/fitness issues over past bunch of years.

Rudiger made his comeback today in CL as Chelsea beat the Frenchie Lille in 2-1 win. Well at least he's finally back fit. Hopefully he stays fit until the Euros.

WhoScored has chosen Gosens as the MOTM against Shaktar

it’s a 3-0 victory from Atalanta and Gosens scored the last goal

Max is better as a Lw than LB, he has been playing LB last two games. Can see that as a trend

but I think Niederlechner is a big reason of their success this season. Very useful

Halstenberg is our best LB now. I think Max n Gosens are better than Schulz n Hector (who mostly plays as a DM this season)

Arnold and Demme are two players who can help this team

Brandt should be used as a free 8
