Hummels is slow and on a decline. Can’t think of any good performances from him for the NT since 2015 or 2016

Our NT play a high line defence. He might not be the ideal CB for that system. But should we change the entire defensive setup because of Hummels? I guess Loew had his answer

Few things I notice from the team:

    1) Germany shouldn’t play 4231 because we don’t have a defensive anchor/destroyer type DM like Kante or Casemiro. We need DM with crazy coverage and defensive awareness, Schweinsteiger was well-rounded but he was actually a great defender in midfield. Germany used to have Buchwald,,Eilts, Frings and so on

Germany either play 433 or 343 , because the lack of traditional 6, we need more players in midfield (3CMs) or at the back (one CB can go forward and make tackles like Rudiger or Ginter) to make up with the lack of real 6. Havertz is too offensive in the midfield for my likings, I see Gundogan/Kimmich/Emre Can will be three midfielders who compliment each other in terms of strengths/weaknesses... I also think Maximilian Eggestein’s coverage is seriously needed in the team. We will have to see how Demirbay develops this season but he is also an interesting player

We need to cover that up by more players in mid/def in order to defend counters

    2) Germany need to step up with set-pieces. Aerial threat doesn’t just come from strikers but also our CBs.
Tah and Sule are like 195cm all, but failed to contribute from aerial attack offensively or defensively in set pieces situations.

Aerial attack from open play is getting harder and harder. Defenders nowadays are strong and tall generally. If we are playing against Giants like VVD, Varane, Maguire, Kompany or so on. Maybe crosses it in isn’t the best idea.

We used to see CBs who are 180cm or under. Nowadays more teams picked CBs who are 188cm or above, especially since 2010

Playing crosses from open play is ineffective. That’s how Man City, Liverpool and Barcelona relies on space rather than physicality on the offensive end. They are playing “buses” every week

Teams should think of how Brazil or Spain dominated football world from mid 90s to 2012, when they didnt use tall strikers. Romario, Bebeto, Edmundo, Ronaldo are short to medium size; then Spain used David Villa or Fabregas to play striker Few years ago and won major tournaments

I think the key is to play the best, most talented attackers (Gnabry, Sane, Reus, Havertz) and build a system from there. Werner, Goretzka, Brandt, Younes can also be used on the attacking end, all players with different strengths and attributes. Goretzka should be used as an aerial threat off the bench

Said it months ago, Havertz will be used as a rotational striker in a fluid attacking system. And after Winter Break, it proves it right...He does it so well as one of the front three, not a midfielder

another one of Low's fetish, seriously.

he's not playing Klostermann or Tah because they are playing for Germany U21 this weekend. But he it seems like Kehrer and Ginter are the 1st choice RB after Klostermann. Instead of giving da Costa a chance we are getting more CBs as RBs, years later and we still play cbs in rb.......

even if Kehrer or Ginter have played some RB for club, they ain't RBs.

Lmao what a mess, let's see if they're wasting valuable time which I have suspicions that they will do with this line-up

Exactly, he's so conservative, kherer is a complete joke, ginter is honest at best, hummels would be a fantastic asset as one of the leaders in the spine of nuer, kroos, hummels

Germany 1-0. Goal by Reus, assist by Kehrer. Way too easy for Kehrer there but it is Estonia after all.

So perhaps this can be used as practice against established defense but this Estonian defense is as close as non-existent even with 9 men behind the ball

Beautiful movement so far though :D

a German scoring a PK, when was the last time it happened? Who remembers that parody in 2016 Euro, lol.

sub in Havertz, Brandt and Werner early in 2nd half and give them chances in this easy game.

Reus direct free kick 5-0! Too easy that it's sad.

Low comes back from his injury finding Sorg has betrayed him and taken over the NT job.

    "Et tu, Sorg?"
