Played in a U23 match recently....for Stoke. http://www.stokecityfc.com/news/article/2016-17/potters-held-to-canaries-draw-3620029.aspx He may be on trial. At least he is, according to some dude who is apparently the editor of a Stoke blog. Daniel Barbir is on trial from West Brom.— James Knowles (@jtwknowles) March 11, 2017
Well god knows Tony Pulis would rather eat his hat than play a youngester so trialing elsewhere is probably a good idea. If Stoke gets relegated and a ton of salary has to go out the door there might be good opportunities for Gooch and a guy like Barbir if he signs there.
Starts again for Stoke U23s. U23s team v @Wolves: Isted, Banks (c), McJannet, Lecygne, Souttar, Barbir, Edwards, Hill, Campbell, Jarvis, N'Goy. #SCFC 🔴⚪️— Stoke City FC (@stokecity) March 17, 2017
Tell that to Sam Field, Kane Wilson and Jonathan Leko. I'd never trust Pulis with a young loanee but a big part of the reason he never played young players when he was at Stoke is they had/have a very weak academy there. Stoke are 9th so those relegation opportunities aren't happening any time soon, are you confusing them with Sunderland?
Yes I was confusing them with Sunderland. My bad. As for Stoke, Yeah I'm going to have to agree with some of the other posters in the YNT threads and say this sounds lateral at best, though I have no idea of the depth chart of CBs at Stoke. Obviously there must be some mutual interest and I hope if he makes the move it goes well. Regardless it seems like his days at West Brom are numbered.
Congrats to Danny on his first US U20 callup. http://www.ussoccer.com/stories/201...layers-to-england-for-world-cup-training-camp DEFENDERS (8): Hugo Arellano (LA Galaxy; Norwalk, Calif.), Danny Barbir (West Bromwich Albion F.C.; Allentown, Pa.), Marcello Borges (University of Michigan; Kearny, N.J.), Aaron Herrera (University of New Mexico; Casa Grande, Ariz.), John Nelson (Internationals SC; Medina, OH), Keaton Parks (Plano, Texas; Unattached), Miles Robinson (Atlanta United FC; Arlington, Mass.), Brandon Terwege (FC Dallas; Highland Village, Texas)
Sounds like he is training in Philly right now: Danny Barbir is out here training with the Union today.— Joe Tansey (@JTansey90) June 8, 2017
Bit of clarification: U19 CB Danny Barbir currently training with the Union after Barbir opted to let his 3-yr West Brom contract run out.— Will Parchman (@WillParchman) June 8, 2017
Strictly training (until he's not): “At this time,” Jim Curtin said, Danny Barbir is with the Union "strictly to train."https://t.co/GWRp0wNTTy via @phillysport @sjnard— Jonathan Tannenwald (@thegoalkeeper) June 9, 2017
Sure, but they're also both left-footed center backs. Considering Trusty couldn't get time already, having them in each other's way would be a really bad idea.
do the union have any sort of claim on him? i dont know why youd pick a garbage union team over an atlanta side thats going to be cool with giving up 2 goals cause theyre gonna score 4
