The part about forcing Pallotta to sell is a cool idea, until you realize nobody with real money wants us. The Qatar rumors were just smoke after PSG lost out in Coupe de France.
Diego Perotti: “I’ve sat next to De Rossi in the dressing room at the Olimpico for 4 years. I saw him take pain killers as if they were candy to play for Roma. We want to do good for him, for us and for the fans. It deserves a better ending then what we’ve done so far” pic.twitter.com/49t6sYM3t1— CalcioASRoma (@CalcioASRoma) May 16, 2019
I recall Christian Vieri agreeing to a pay per goal contract about 12 years ago. He was to make the minimum 1500 euro a month + 100k for each goal scored. I think he only scored 2-3 goals and he couldn’t take pk’s. He quit right after that as he made more or just as much as an announcer.
I just listened to some on my phone earlier but my understanding was that 1) this type deal was discussed between Monchi/DDR and Pallotta was agreed at that time. 2) But then DDR was called in the other day and told he was not being renewed at all. 3) when the shitstorm started, Pallotta said he would have been fine with that original idea. However, DDR, after having already been told he was out, rejected that overture. This mess ultimately falls on Pallotta as he's in charge but, as someone who would prefer Pallotta stay out of the way as much as possible, his main problem is a failure to hire the right people to run the ship. Seems like a complete mess as far as upper management goes.
Completely disagree, winning cures EVERYTHING. There is a reason we Roma fans cling to our legends, it’s because we have nothing else to hold on to.
In some sense it's better that Pallotta takes the blame for the DDR mess. My suspicion is that Roma will hire a manager in the next few days and it will be clear to everyone that those negotiations were what changed things for DDR. That means the new manager will stand little chance and it'll be back to looking for yet another manager next spring.
Ranieri said: “We’ve also seen some teams lose great points of reference in Italy. But since De Rossi was our captain, a person in our history, perhaps his departure had to be handled differently so he could think it through better" “Given how maybe the Roma fans support the team so passionately, maybe more careful consideration was needed. “I’m a coach. If I’d been asked what I wanted with regards to De Rossi, in case we were keeping him, I would’ve said that I wanted him because I know what kind of man and player he is. “We always talk about leaders: there are many of them. There’s the one for the fans, social media, club, journalists. “Then there are those for the coach: he’s a coach on the pitch, he reasons without an ego and for good of the team. These are the leaders we want as coaches." “Baldini doesn’t affect my daily work at all. I don’t know what kind of relationship he has with the president. Here, in my work, he doesn’t affect me. Generally speaking, I don’t know what he does." ....this club, man. Having your interim manager pretty much saying he doesn't get it to the media. Where else does this happen? Also, add Ranieri to the list of people who don't understand what Baldini does.
