Kind of sad..... World Cup winner De Rossi to retire from football at age of 36 Former Roma and Italy midfielder De Rossi 'retires' aged 36 after leaving Boca Juniors De Rossi: “I'm leaving Boca to be closer to my family”.

He should've retired at Roma. I was okay with him going elsewhere, but was it worth it ruining the "one club man" tag for 6 appearances and 1-2 millions of euro? I bet he could've milked his Roma-only legend image for some advertisement money in Italy itself. EDIT: It's kind of funny that people forget how "reliable" the likes of Cassetti, Vucinic, Taddei and Perrotta were. Put in Juan, Amantino Mancini, Aquilani and Menez there and you might have a CL-ready squad. Vucinic is hands down the most over-rated Roma player in the last 20 years, and that by a mile or three. Perrotta had heart, but no brains, and he was the only one except Vucinic who could've missed on an empty net from a 15 centimeters away, while the opposition team is having a water break. Taddei was a work-horse, gave everything on the pitch every game, unfortunately he never had lots of talent to give, but I can forgive him for that. He is the Roman legend that wasn't born in Rome. Cassetti was a poor man's Florenzi.
Anyone believe another team in Serie A may sign DDR or is this really it? I can see a number of teams reacing out and needing him. Heck, anyone from 7th to 20th place or rather, Genoa, Sassuolo, Udinese, Bologna, Brescia, Samp, Verona, Lecce, Fiorentina, Toro, Parma, Spal even Milan and Napoli could easily utilize DeRossi.
Cassetti was a better right back than Florenzi. We were lucky to find such bargains as him and Tonetto. Solid consistent quality who rarely made mistakes. Taddei was very technical and have a very high game IQ, hence his ability to interpret multiple roles with ease. In our squad today, the closest would be Perotti but he is a better individual. Taddei was a player that made the overall team play better. These players are always vastly underrated by fans as "average" when they are the hardest to find. A good team needs steady 7's who can throw in regular 8-9 performances along with a few geniuses, in this example the 2 brains being Pek and Totti. Our team today is short of those genius players but we do have potential such as Zaniolo and Pellegrini if he ever grows a pair.
No this seriously disrespects Perrotta. You're talking about a player that (if memory serves) signed for us as a standout DM from Chievo, started at left mid for the world cup winners, and played as an unconventional trequartista running for two so Totti could play false 9. He didn't lack brains. His technical ability was a bit lacking for playing in the center of attack. And all that running undoubtedly caused some of those memorably bad finishes - he was great at getting into position though (to miss). All running and no idea what to do was Michael Bradley.
