That's why Argentina attackers are so highly rated. It's a hack league and it's very defensive. If you're putting in good numbers offensively then you're being paid attention to.

Daniele De Rossi could return to the Olympic Stadium. Not with the Roma jersey but with that of the Nazionale: on 12 October, in fact, Italy will challenge Greece in the Capitoline system, in a challenge that could give the final pass to the next Europeans. Currently, the former Giallorossi is struggling with a muscular elongation that kept him out of the final challenges with Boca : in case of recovery, De Rossi would be close to wearing his shirt again blue, removed last time after the regrettable challenge against Sweden. Mancini, in fact, has included him among the pre-summoned for the next engagement.

I saw that this morning and was surprised. Maybe Mancini wants some experience?

The argument was not that he should have been playing every game was it? The argument for keeping him was to be a presence around the team, a leader on the training pitch to keep younger players in check and play every now and again.

How much influence do these clubhouse guys really give? Keeping Totti around was kind of a hindrance to himself and to the team. He disrupted the coach , media and the players. DeRossi may be a different personality than Totti but I always question exactly what does keeping an older , expensive bench warmer around bring? Are they really going to change the outcome of games or help coach? I'm still trying to figure out what Nedved's role is and no one can tell exactly what he does other than take fans on a tour of the stadium. Someone said he was involved in player signings but its hard to believe they won 8 straight scudetti because Nedved was behind the scenes.

Same went for Conti and Tempestilli at Roma. I think Conti was involved with the youth team development somewhat but I don't think he was the one who really did much to sign anyone. I mean its nice they gave him a job for another 20 years but not sure what he brought to change results. I think the lesser players or the non superstars who maybe aspire to be coaches may bring more. Keeping superstars around too long isn't all that great in my opinion.

And he would have been on a per game contract.

Then they should have made him an assistant coach.

De Rossi playing every 2nd match as DM or CB instead of Juan Jesus would have been immense help for this team both with raw talent, grinta and presence on the field.

They should've bitten the bullet for one more season and paid him a yearly salary, if a slightly decreased one, instead of hoping that Cristante would stop going through every game like it's a complex labyrinth and 3D chess combined into one.

Possibly but if he still wanted to be a player the other option should have been presented with fair money put on the table. This didn't have to be difficult. Jimmy is a mong.

Pallotta didn't or wouldn't give a huge contract for a 36 year old part timer.

We'll talk in circles on this. Obviously from what I said above, I dont believe it was time to kick him out because he offered more to the general well being of the club than just mins on the pitch.
