When it comes to discussing Ole and our ambitions, @Daniel_James_97 nails it! 🔨If you like this, you'll ♥️ his first full interview with us 📲— Manchester United (@ManUtd) June 12, 2019 What Daniel James has to say about his big move. https://www.manutd.com/en/news/deta...-james-first-interview-as-a-man-united-player
James: "This is one of the best days of my life + challenge I am really looking forward to. This is an incredibly proud moment for me and my family, however, it is tinged with sadness that my father isn’t able to share this experience with us."— Simon Stone (@sistoney67) June 12, 2019 Such a bittersweet moment for him, hope he can achieve success here.
Might not be the quality/potential that we want, but its refreshing to sign a guy thats actually hungry and thrilled to be at this club.
On a scale of 1 to @Daniel_James_97, how excited are you to see our new signing at #MUFC? 😁 pic.twitter.com/ZlCf4Sudb1— Manchester United (@ManUtd) June 12, 2019 Personally, my level of excitement for him is at a 7-7.5. Hoping he will be able to contribute on some level pretty quickly (sub/cup appearances). But at the same time, he's not expected to be an impact player, who will solve an major area of need for us either. He looks very happy to be a United player though and hopefully this enthusiasm will serve him in good stead.
Much like at the old age end I thought it wasn't fair to blame Ashley Young/Paul Scholes for us not replacing Ashley Young/Paul Scholes, would also be unfair to blame Daniel James should our end-haul of overall transfers not be up to spec. Like Dalot (who has promise but some issues to sort out defensively and was bought during a very sparse window), Daniel James should be given some time to level-up. His fee should not be blocking us buying anyone else given our size and revenue. Happy for us to have a relatively cheap, youth signing, as long as the other necessary transfers are forthcoming and if not would place the blame where it belongs I know he is most comfortably as LWF, but would be nice to see if pre-season he and Dalot can start to forge an understanding on the right-hand side given we are so dead there (and AWB if that pans out). Would also be interesting to see how him and Shaw get on on the left-side too. After recent Valencia, Young, Sanchez, Mata, Blind, Rojo etc. Some youth and genuine speed on the flanks is long overdue even if just cameos while he develops.
Im not that excited like Ashur but us attempting to try out potential talent is encouraging and Bale can fook off and play golf..

James is looking to emulate Giggs. https://www.skysports.com/football/...to-be-like-manchester-united-great-ryan-giggs
Kind of impressed with James here. Holds his run twice then times it perfectly to get on the ball. His end product still needs some work but if he can work on that he will be a huge threat one day. 😤 @McTominay10 was our driving force against Kristiansund 👏 #MUFC pic.twitter.com/8YRkScESLK— Manchester United (@ManUtd) July 31, 2019
Yeah, I know its just preseason, but I do like what I have seen. Outside of his speed, his work rate, his touch is not bad at all. He should be at least the 2nd attacking sub off the bench. Maybe even start on the right side.

Hell of a start and his end product on the left looks pretty damn good. I'd be interested to see him and Lingard/Pereira be played in space normally occupied by more traditional wingers with Rashford and Martial together up top. Keep James on the LW and Lingard/AP can rotate on the right. Greenwood/Lingard/Pogba would have to be our striker depth. Lingard and Pogba would both be deeper - playing as a 2nd striker. It does limit Greenwoods immediate opportunities, but there will still be chances in a long season. Fred and McT deep. FBs drop to line and tuck for weak side protection.
The boy is impressive and no doubt he has a long productive career ahead of him, but he’s going to off once defenders focus on him. Let’s see how well he adapts to tighter marking than what he faced against Southampton.
Daniel James is setting an example - Ole https://www.espn.com/soccer/manches...87/james-setting-an-example-at-man-united-ole I had some questions about him, particularly vs oppo that sits and that we need to break down but for the time being, you simply can not argue with his production. 3 goals so far and yesterday was his best game, as far as overall production. Put in some excellent crosses that another CF probably would have buried (or at the very least got at the end of). He also appears to be much more comfortable and effective on the left and would rather see him out there, if that's what can be expected of him. Rashford can switch out to the right, with Greenwood as his deputy. Would definitely have those 2 play out there over Lingard or Mata tbh (whether it's in a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3). Nevertheless, as well as James is doing right now, let's see if he can keep this up, once opposing defenders are used to him and will be paying closer attention to him.
Yeah, you can have questions about him at RW but not LW. He skips between double markers and his acceleration cutting across the box buys a lot of fouls. His crossing with his left foot is far better than Rashford's and he's less obsessed with shooting from 1% positions. It'll be fun watching him grow. He's got as many goals for us as Alexis, and as many open play goals in 4 games as Rashford in the last 21.
