Anyone else catch that Backstage Galaxy deal about the FIFA 18 tournament at SHC? Credit where it's due, that seemed like a pretty cool deal. SHC is also being featured in the game.
It was very well done, which leads me to believe EA Sports did the majority of the heavy lifting. I certainly wouldn’t leave a billion dollar franchise in the hands of LA’s marketing department. If it was handled by LA’s team it makes you wonder why they can’t put that level of attention to detail in everything. You don’t need a million dollar budget to spell check your copy.
That's the annoying thing: that lack of attention to detail smacks of pure laziness. It takes little effort to check things like spelling and grammar, especially with modern technology. I joke about the "Stuhub" of course, but on a serious note, that's an organization that's spending significant money on naming rights for your stadium and the marketing department are spelling that name wrong on officially released material. They've since read this thread and been told directly and they react with less seriousness than we do. Could you imagine someone like Steve Jobs if their company's name was attached to something and somebody spelled it "Aple" once, let alone multiple times?
Majority through EA. I used to work there. I was always frustrated at the lack of focus of the Vancouver based FIFA team on MLS. Looks like things have changed slightly, which is great. (Bunch of Euro based folks ran the FIFA franchise when I was there).
Maybe there should be a Chamipons League for all the teams in the region who won their respective wooden spoon. A Razzies of sort.
I have decided in my mind, that you provided motion capture for the goal celebrations. I realise that your instinct will likely be to correct me and tell me you did some other job but please, don't ruin this for me. New slogan... Your Los Angeles Galaxy: So good at being "1st", that a single "1" no longer does us justice.
It’s like the gold star for 5 time Chamipons (I realize I’m probably a dozen or so instances of me misspelling that before my auto correct learns that spelling and then I’ll be using it un-ironically … well with any luck).
Or how about a Bummer Cup for teams that didn't qualify for the World Cup: US, Netherlands, Chile, Turkey....
To add to the overall bush league vibe emanating from the Galaxy FO, I recently received an e-mail regarding the Ts & Cs for buying my season tickets. This e-mail contained a link that goes to another website, asking me to input my full name and e-mail address as a kind of digital signature. Now while that's not the most dangerous of information to ask for, requesting personal info via links in e-mails is a prime strategy for phishing scams. As a result, most organizations make it a policy not to do this. I don't know if you are required to give additional info beyond the first screen because I elected not to do it. I have since had a voicemail from my new rep asking me to get that signed. I shall be contacting them to let them know how bad a practice this is and ask that they provide me with an alternative means. This is also the first season I've had to do this, so I'm not sure why they need me to do this at all.
Recently my recruiter posted a JD on linkedin in Europe for a job on my team. The site - due to linked in policies - wouldn't let us use an apostrophe in the text of the JD. I mean, linkedin...what? Apparently it's a known bug. Awesome for trying to hire people. I thought of this board when I saw that email. God knows what people think when reading the JD. Apparently no one at the company can use grammar.
Its a sad commentary on grammar that probably most peoples reactions were unawareness to the absent apostrophes.
