Philly at RFK? Brian Carroll STILL on Philly's roster
Since Philthy's mascot is a pile of shit, I submit as this week's baby animal, one who has been leaving those piles all over my property lately (and upsetting every dog in the neighborhood) artists rendering of same animal if it grew up in Philly: We really need to turn this season on and get a result at home. We always seem to prefer to fight these guys rather than play soccer against them and the scorelines are usually quite dull. However, I feel shakily confident we'll break out of our scoring slump and trudge past these clowns 3-1. Weather's finally going to be nice for a tailgate in Lot 8 so get there early.
I'm looking forward to watching DC score their first goal of the season in person. Also hoping the weather stays nice enough that I don't have to layer up too much.
A good result would be a goal scored. Gravy would be a win. I've read rumors that Boswell may get a start as well. I would hope Ben has these guys fired up. I would run out LeToux as well, on the old "revenge against the guys who traded me" theme.
Disagree - a good result is a win, anything less is unacceptable. I don't care how the first games have gone. Good point on Le Toux. Nyarko and Sam though have been fine and I feel like they are both just a step over Le Toux...they just had 2 weeks off too so they should be rested.
What we needed to develop last year was a Plan B for scoring. Acosta/Mullins was great, but we needed an alternative last year. A lack of Plan B has been evident this short season. And again for this game. We'll have to see if Ortiz is anything other than a gimme-gimme-gimme guy. If not, then yank him quickly and put in somebody reliable like Letoux. Is Tissot still up here in DC? Or with the Richmond team? Either way, I'd take a critical look at NDL on the right. And be ready to bring back Franklin at that position.
I like Harkes or Buescher better than Jeffrey at the 8, so I hope we'll see that. And, I'd prefer to have Durkin on the bench over Jeffrey or Tissot, rather than shoehorn someone else in as a backup at the 6.
I'd have Tissot on the bench in every match, solely since he's the only other natural lefty/left back in case Kemp goes down.
This is a must win game, but it will be really tough. We're already missing key players and integrating others. I doubt we'll keep a clean sheet, so we will need to score 2. Perfect game to see if Ortiz or LeToux have any juice. We'll need a goal from some unlikely spot -- Birnbaum owes us a couple of points -- but there may be someone else ready to step up... Come on, DC!
I hope to see more of Le Toux tomorrow. He's not a Lone Ranger; he combines well with others and could be good at playing off of Acosta and Harkes.
I really like a natural lefty as a starter, but Korb wasn't half bad. For emergency or garbarge minute purposes, Durkin had a good turn at LB in preseason, and Franklin can fill in there ably. It changes what we can do, but I don't think Tissot's any kind of 1 for 1 replacement for Kemp, either. If I thought he was, I might feel more strongly about having him there.
This isn't a "just perform well" game to me. Losing at home to a bad team like this will be a solid omen of bad times ahead.
I see what Ben has to work with I know we are better then PU. I need more pasión from the guys. It's all about who wants it more.
This should be fun. The audio feed from Channel 8 is all ********ed up. There is random background noise, but the announcers are silent. Wait, this might not be so bad after all!
Anyone know the story on the audio? The crowd noise is a taped. It's like Fox Sports World in the dark ages. There doesn't seem to be any audio feed from RFK.
