Who: D.C. United v. Red Bull New Jersey
    What: MLS match 28
When: Sunday, September 16, 1 PM
    Where: Audi Field, SW DC
    Why: ******** the Red Bulls

    Standings:
DC: 34 Pts., 7th in East, 15th in MLS, 0 GD
NJ: 55 Pts., 1st in East, 1st in MLS, +21 GD

    Form (Old to Recent)
    DC: LLWDW
    NJ: DDWWL

    Suspensions:
    DC: None
    NJ: Unclear

    Injuries:
DC: Ousted (Elbow), Odoi-Atsem (Compartment, in training), NDL (Knee, in training), Hamid (Knee, should be fine), Kemp (out for season), Kelly? (listed on last report, irrelevant though), Asad (Ankle, Questionable)
NJ: Bezecourt, Duncan, Mines, Redding, Valot

    Probable Lineup

    Hamid
    Fisher Birnbaum Opare Mora
    Moreno Canouse
    Arriola Acosta Stieber
    Rooney

Worra, Robinson, Brillant, Durkin, Segura, Asad/Harkes, Mattocks

Atlantic Cup is lost but this season is not yet. Win could put us in a playoff spot with 6 to go with Montreal playing at Philly. Early kickoff, hope the boys are awake and ready for it. We played well a few weeks ago up there and were unlucky to not take a point back home.

Goff reporting that Hamid did not train today. Olsen says he'll be "fine". Of course Bill will be "fine", the real question is whether or not he will play. If it's Worra, this will become an NC-17 beatdown, so keep the young children at home.

Caveat though is Goff said the question was in regards to Sunday, which makes it seem like he will play based on Benny's answer.

Also said Asad may be on bench, but NDL and OA are out.

Sure would be nice to beat the crap out of them, but I'm not holding my breath.

We've almost caught up with the rest of the league in games back; so does that mean we can stop being (understandably) tired all the time soon?

I hate this piece of shit Jersey team.

Was Opare playing last time we played them? Because I recall BWP setting up shop and Opare's usually better with him than Birnbaum or Brillant or any other CB we've had.
Hopefully our fullbacks will pay more attention than usual to the wings in this game, NJ likes to play wide and we generally leave about 20 yards of undefended space out there and tuck our defense inside the 18.

The Atlantic Cup itself is useless and meaningless (makes a nice doorstop though) but it's always a sign of goodness when we beat them.
I am not expecting any goodness from an early Sunday game.

I'm pretty sure if we cloned Canouse and played him as all the central midfielders in a 3-5-2, we'd win MLS cup. So let's hope that's a side effect of drinking RB.

I'm already at risk for cancer with my cigar habit. I don't need to add to it with Red Bull.

Canouse and the fbs have to have great games, playing both ways instrumentally.

Just keep it close and Mattocks for the win.

Can someone please repost the famous "Why We Fight" masterpiece-- the one with the Laughing Cow fans depicted wearing animal masks?
    It was hilarious.

    Many thanks.

    DC United twitter shows

    Rooney
    Segura, Acosta, Arriola
    Moreno Canouse
    Mora Birnbaum Brilliant Robinson
    Hamid

Goff claims they are going to start with 3 in the back as a 3-5-2 or 3-6-1 and Mora? at Midfield as well. This makes zero sense to me and is probably just Goff being weird.

I like the DC United announced lineup fine, playing 3 in the back seems like an experiment to be saved for say a friendly or something. I'm hoping Goff is just wrong on this.

ESPN has it as more of a 5-4-1

    Rooney
    Segura Acosta
    Morano Canouse
Mora Arriola (wide and sort of behind Morano/Canouse)
    Birnbaum Brilliant Robinson
    Hamid

I don't like this at all. It reads like playing for a tie. (also, no width if we are pinned back on D)

Is it just me missing it or has Hamid not been punting balls? I saw a goal kick, but it seems like he is distributing with throws etc.... I think Iike it in general, just hope it isn't because of the kner
