    Who: D.C. United v. Atlanta United F.C.
    What: MLS/DCU game 26
When: Wednesday, August 23, 7:30 PM
Where: RFK Stadium, Washington, D.C., USA
Why: We beat Atlanta on Wednesday nights in DC.

******** Atlanta. Would like nothing more at this point of the season than to beat them 3 times.

    Hamid
    Franklin Birnbaum Opare Odoi-Atsem
    Canouse Marcelo
    Acosta
    Arriola Miranda Sam

Clark, Korb, Robinson, NDL, Jeffrey, Stieber, Mullins

Positive, I love empty RFK games like Champs League or Sunday v. RSL. Always seems a little surreal. Expect the same out of this one.

Hopefully we see about 15 minutes of Stieber. After Saturday, give Miranda a shot up top -- Mullins is just lost at the moment. No Birnbaum, so figure Franklin and Opare with OA and Korb on the outside.

Identity thieves? I think if Atlanta had foreseen how absolutely horrible DCU would be this season they'd have taken another shot at the name.
As for Birnbaum while the kid can still tie his shoes and eat soup for God's sake sit him for a month or 6. This season isn't worth the risk.

Is this official or is this what you suggest/hope for?

Either way, I hope Miranda gets a shot at starting and if not, at least some playing time.

I like this lineup, and it's plausible. I'd swap Arriola and Sam, though.

Just my take on it. AFAIK no MLS lineups are public until an hour before kickoff. Possible too he could play on the wing in place of Sam, but I doubt that.

They were swapping wings multiple times in Colorado, dunno how to represent that though on the lineup :(

Miranda's first appearance with DCU came as a winger.

That would be a clever point if it was true more often but it's a rare day when our little black and red rodent goes to bed well fed,
Sadly your squirrel has less than half the acorns of the big squirrel in the park and gathers the fewest with every outing.

given that there are 3 matches in 8 days, I expect to see some changes.

I suspect Miranda will play. According to Goff's concussion story Brown has been cleared. So I won't be completely shocked when he starts. I hope that Robinson get the start and Franklin gets to sit on the bench. Apparently Harkes is back to full training.

seems like Atlanta hasn't played in two or three weeks

To GlenAA11's point, Korb, Jeffrey and Robinson are fit and healthy, and did not play (much) on Saturday. Franklin, Sarvas and Sam are "old," and did play (a lot) on Saturday. Acosta, likewise, has an overuse injury.

A makeshift lineup we could use, if it turns out the coaching staff takes those concerns seriously:

    --------------------Mullins
    ------------Miranda
    DeLeon -------------------- Arriola
    --------Jeffrey ---- Canouse
    Korb - Robinson - Opare - OA

    Subs: Steiber for OA
    Brown for Mullins
    Harkes for Miranda

I know we'd normally have zero chance of winning with Acosta on the bench, but I'd consider giving him the week to recover and play him on Sunday. This is less appetizing given about half of his production this year has come against Atlanta. However, it's possible his feet may make this decision for us. Honestly, if he plays tomorrow and plays well, I'll be pleasantly surprised, and I doubt we'd see him on the weekend at all, despite the coming break.

Sunday? the next game is Saturday

Given his track record v Atlanta I think Acosta will play about 60 mins

DC United seems to be bragging online about how they've already beat atlanta twice which really makes me want to predict a loss, they always seem to lose games they preemptively brag about.
    However, it's a #WeWinWednsdays game so .....

    DCU: 2
Atlanta:1 (with 2 goals called back; one for offside, one for a vicious foul)

Atlanta ends the game with 10 "men".

This team is already a lot better, and they haven't found much chemistry, yet. Being able to bring Stieber, Brown, Harkes, Miranda and OA off the bench is much better than Neagle, LeToux and ?.

I feel like a lot of you can't distinguish between our Own Goal and the opponents' Own Goal. You can't combine both Own Goals into one for scoring purposes.

My ideal lineup would be :

    ------------------------------Hamid
    Odoi Atsem -------Opare--------Robinson--------Korb
    -----------------------Canouse----De Leon
    ----Arriola------------------Acosta------------Stieber
    -------------------------------Mullins

All 11 players under 30. At this point the current season is lost. I'm more interested in players trialing for next year ... particularly Opare, Korb, Canouse, De Leon and Mullins. I have no interest in trialing Sarvas, Sam and Franklin. I already know exactly what those 3 can offer and what their ceiling is.
