Slavia advance with a fairly dominant 2-0 home result after what was described as a very tactically naive 1st leg. They play Rio Ave of Portugal in the next round.

Slovan Liberec also know their 3rd Round opponent, it is Admira Wacker Modling from Austria.

Ml. Boleslav will know their opponent in about 45 minutes (current results hold it would be Shkendija of Macedonia).

On the Champions League side, the match-ups are set for the Third Qualifying Round:

    Plzen will play Qarabag (Azeribaijan)
    Sparta will play Steaua Bucherest

In the Champions League Playoff Round, Viktorian Plzen will host the second leg against Ludogorets Razgrad of Bulgaria. The games will be on Wednesday 17 August and Tuesday 23 August.

In the Europa League Playoff Round, all the games are Thursday 18 August and Thursday 25 August. Here is who the Czech clubs will face:

Slovan Liberec will host the second leg against AEK Larnaca of Cyprus
Slavia Prague will host the first leg against Anderlecht of Belgium, who has the third highest club coefficient of the 22 seeded clubs
Sparta Prague will host the second leg against SonderjyskE of Denmark (it's written with the last letter capitalized)

Plzen are playing very poorly so far this season, it hasn't hurt them yet but I suspect failure to make the group stage will result in an early coaching change. They are seeded though, and still capable of reaching the group stages (though they have to be in better form).

Sparta were woeful in defense both matches. I feel the 3 man defense without a dominant center back (actually in this particular case with 2 players Costa and Kadlec that are more naturally fullbacks) continues to cost them important matches. There was a bit of post match drama with players being called out, so much like Plzen, the manager is likely on a very warm seat depending on how the team responds.

Impressive display by Liberec. Slavia have been shaky in Europe but are likely to be the most improved team in the league this season, don't see them getting passed Anderlecht though.

SønderjyskE is short for Sønderjysk Elitesport ... or translated, South Jutland Elite Sport... we Danes just like compressing words together as you may have noticed, which is what makes the language difficult to foreigners .. like FC Midtjylland (Mid Jutland) and FC Nordsjælland (North Zealand).

SønderjyskE was a "Leicester" kind of surprise in the Danish Superliga last season, suddenly finding themselves at the top of the table fighting for medals and an Europa Cup spot, which has never happened before ... so this is their very first Europa Cup season ever ... but they have been doing well in Europe so far, by eliminating much more experienced Strømsgodset from Norway (2-1 and 2-2 AET) and then eliminating the Polish side Zagłebie Lubin by 2-1 away and 1-1 at home :
    http://www.bold.dk/fodbold/polen/ekstraklasa/

So far they have been in luck in the way that they have not been up against defensive minded teams, because their great strength is that they are a well-oiled counter-attacking machine that need few opportunities to score goals ... but it's all about the team-work and not about well-known players, so on paper they do not look like much and so far they are 3rd from the bottom in the Superliga after the first 3 games, no doubt because Europe is new to them and they are not used to playing this many important games .... so the question is if they will be forced to rethink their strategy and pay less attention to the Europa League, or if they will keep fielding all their best players, trying to do their best in Europe, which they admit is hurting them in the Superliga ...

What a difference a higher coefficient makes, because Plzen and Sparta have been terrible in Europe this year but both were positioned far enough along that they will make it to the Europa League Group Stages anyway (they both blew their shot at Champions League). Both of the top two have some glaring issues that they haven't resolved though.

Liberec has been surprisingly impressive in qualifying though and will also be in the Europa League group stages.

Seeding wise Plzen is in Pot 1, Sparta in Pot 2, and Liberec in Pot 3.

    The Europa League groups:

Group E: Viktoria Plzen, Roma, Austria Vienna, Astra

Group J: Fiorentina, PAOK, Slovan Liberec, Qarabag

Group K: Internazionale, Sparta Prague, Southampton, Hapoel Beer Sheva

Good groups for making money, but with the way they are playing currently its very possible that no team makes the knock out rounds.

    So far today:

Qarabag 2: Liberec 2 - meh result though an eventful match, the highlights were that Sykora scored the fastest goal in Europa League history and that the hosts equalized late in stoppage on an excellent goal.

Plzen 1 : Roma 1 - Both teams had near miss opportunities for a winner in a match that seemed from the highlights that it sort of fizzled out after a fast start.

Sparta are currently losing to Southampton, all I have heard about the match is that Southampton's first goal was on a penalty decision that seems to have been at best questionable.

Southampton defeated Sparta 3-0. Idiotically, I started watching at the half-hour mark when Sparta were already down 2-0. I didn't think it was a penalty to be honest, not that it mattered. Sparta were terrible, Scasny was worse.

Is it true that Miroslav Kadlec is Michal's agent? The thought of that is awfully amusing, however, it would certainly explain a lot. I believe Mazuch and Costa is the best possible CB pairing. The former needs to be given a proper chance because he's clearly the most natural CB in the squad.

Costa isn't a bad defender at all. I think he'd improve beside a more vocal and alert partner like Mazuch, the only real "leader" back there. Kadlec is an overprivileged scrub with no motivation left. Not sure when he developed such a sense of entitlement either. I can only hope Jarolim drops him for good.

Not a Sparta fan but I really have no idea what Scasny is doing. He continues to play an essentially 3 central defender formation with two defenders who like to go forward. They just give up free crosses because there is no wide defending. Add that in to the fact their attack seems to lack any innovation without Dockal or Rosicky (at least presumably once he has been there a bit) and it has made for a really underwhelming Euro adventure for them.

Sparta leading Inter Milan 3-1 late in the match, I was excited to see 2 goals from Kadlec until I saw the highlights and realized that Inter's defense on both goals was uniquely pathetic. Still, looks like a good result to start the post-Scasny era.

Liberec is at 1-1 with PAOK Salonika, haven't seen any highlights or details. Edit: Liberec went on to concede another goal and lost 1-2.

Plzen makes a cross-border trip to play Austria Vienna in the later match-up.

Plzen ends with a 0-0 draw, for an away match not the worst result but an opponent it would be better to get 3 points from.

    Next up for alt teams:

    Viktoria Plzen - Astra Giurgiu
    Slovan Liberec - Fiorentina
Hapoel Be'er Sheva - Sparta Prague

Crucial 3 point chances for Plzen and Sparta's advancement chances, Liberec would do well not to lose but their poor domestic form seems to be moving into their European matches.
