Nice interview in the FIFA website with the peruvian Teofilo Cubillas, one of the greatest south-american players of all time: http://www.fifa.com/en/display/article,69729.html I bet our Yank friends are going to think he said that Donovan is the #3 player in the world. Lol
I don't understand why FIFA ask him a question about the football in USA,shouldn't he talk more about his Peru days(which is more interesting)
What I don't understand is, if the guy wants to say something nice about an American football player, why can't he?
Yeah but i don't understand why FIFA ask about football in USA to Cubillas,he's got nothing to do with it. It's like asking Maradona about football in USA,pointless.
If they asked Maradona about football in the US he would immediatetly make it political. With him being Castro's favorite mouthpiece, some of the stuff he says is amazing.. "They let in the people that dropped the nuclear bomb but they won't let Diego in" -maradona on WC2002.
And he played in the US as well. Plus, sorry to tell you, but FIFA will always have a disproportionate interest in the world's most lucrative market than it deserves. Deal with it.
He lives in South Florida. He regularly attends Gold Coast Soccer games to watch his two sons play for the Hollywood Strikers. The sons are around 20 and are pretty good. The older son has an awesome freekick.
Well their father was a awesome freekicker,he usually don't need to shoot with power to curl the ball over the wall.Just a simple touch and he do the job, watch the two goals he scored against Scotland in World Cup '78
i have only heard of Cubillas from my Peruvian friend, i have never seen him play, i'll try watchin the clips. the son of his i talked about earlier puts ton of power on his free kicks. i have seen him take many very powerful (and accurate) freekicks from 30-40yds
Growing up in SoFla, Nene was one of my favorites when he finished his career with the Strikers. He ended up playing for a watered-down version of the Strikers in the ASL, and even at 40 was head and shoulders above his opponents.
