Normally Seattle and UNLV should win their first tie. However, football is a game of upsets. To achieve such upsets, GCU and CSUB will have to up their game, count on their leaders to hold the forts and minimize costly mistakes. Then for the final, Air Force looks like a logical winner: firstly because they had a great season. playing attractive modern football and were comfortable all along. Their coach, Doug Hill, easily deserves the WAC coach of the year award. Secondly, they play only two games over this dense week-end that cap a tiring season.
Don't bet against UNLV at home. Though getting by Seattle may be tough and take a lot out of their legs if they do. (last time they went to overtime). I don't see anyone other than UNLV, Air Force or Seattle even having a chance as these three are significantly better than the other 4 teams there.
Indeed, dangerous to bet against UNLV at home! However, just thinking that AF has a significant advance in terms of game quality with a deep bench that maintains the performance levels when they change players and they will have fresher legs. As said football is a game full or surprises, allowing small teams to create upsets: low score game (1-0 is enough), high psychological content (e.g. a 2-0 lead is the most dangerous score to manage) and based on mistakes (often the team making the less mistakes wins). This cocktail makes its success worldwide: the underdog can always hope.
Agree. The thing that makes it tough is you would potentially need three of these upset results in a row. Could face Seattle and potentially UNLV and then Air Force. But I also agree with the last part about hope.
