Sort of answering my own question here, but I see that the team website now lists coverage as "dcunited.com/live" rather than CSN. And there you have it.

This mistake is on MLS. As far as I know, this is the first Thursday night game this season in MLS and they schedule it on a night that is traditionally flooded with MLS preseason games. Not much CSN can do about that.
Up until a couple years ago, CSN had HD exclusivity. I'm not sure there's anything left to make the deal special now.
This may have been answered already - I'm having a murderously bad time with Comcast and planning to leave them when I move to a new place - FiOS is available. Can I get CSN when I am not on Comcast?
Yes. I'm a former Comcast subscriber and when I moved I tried to subscribe but when installers saw that my house wasn't already hooked up they wouldn't install it. That's why I'm on FiOS.
