Apparently 2 new teams joined the CSL.Hopefully, they are properly endowned to be able to stick around for a long time.
Not Milltown or Hamilton Croatia. They left the league. I hope the CSL thinks about why. Doubtful since they got their replacements. I hope the 3 new teams talk with the 2 that left. This league has some growing to do in more than one way. Come on you Accies!
Disregard Miro's reply, he has no idea. The prevailing theory that's kicking about is that it was due to disagreements over the nature of Equity v. Member ownership in the CSL's league structure. Namely that the member clubs have no real input into the league. Another item that comes up is that MFC and Hammer Cro only joined the CSL under Dominic DiGironimo's leadership and that when he left, the plans to expand westward and build a truly national league left with him.
Ottawa News Team Name:Capital City FC Home Field:Terry Fox While i am very excited about having a team in the csl and will go to all home games i would have liked them to play out of keith harris stadium.
Well, a club is a club, hopefully they have enough support to make it as one of the outliers in the league. In other CSL news, Pino Jazbec made some comments in an article stating that the CSL Association Inc. plans that are being implemented involve moving away from the "equity ownership v. member clubs" model. It looks like a step in the right direction. http://canadiansoccerleague.com/newsnet/templates/?a=167&z=5 The article briefly mentions expansion, though whether that's in an Ontario-Quebec context or new divisions throughout the country, but I'm sure we'll be hearing more on any expansion plans throughout the season.
Asmuch as i am not a big fan of terry fox stadium i think there have greater chance for success in terms of support.
I am not involved with the team as a fan i would hope between 400-600 and build the fan base from there.
I meant as a fan, sorry. Just in general, wondered if you've been hearing any buzz from people in the soccer community or if you've got friend who'll be attending as well?
There is no real buzz yet but this was the same thing last year when we were granted the semi pro baseball team. Then the season started and the baseball team got real solid support they did avg around 3.000 fans last ear this year they have sold 4200 season tickets and were 2 months away from the season. My point is i think support for the csl team will be real good it may start slow but i can see this team doing well.
I actually like the Capital City Crest, it's unique but traditional. My main problem with the league now is the sheer number of teams wearing red and black, mix it up a bit, geez.
Thank you. Hmmmmm. It's a bit odd. There are worse out there of course but it is odd. I've always felt this one was particularly bad.
upon further review... yep it is still awful!!! I will say i like the shape of the shield and thank goodness there are no gradients, clip art or cartoon soccer playing animals. But the "CC" thing in the middle reads as an "X" and overall it is just poorly executed. Why can't these teams actually hire a graphic designer to create there brand so it looks professional? (i'm looking at you fc edmonton and the entire csl).
