Kick them out. Until FIFA actually takes a hard stance one of these days on this kind of stuff it is going to keep going on.

Agreed. Suspend him from the world cup.

Looking at the headline, it makes it sound like they were chanting pro-Nazi/racist stuff.

Read a little, and it sounds more like they were chanting nationalistic slogans which date back to the era when Croatia was more or less ruled by Germany. It's not quite the same thing.

    Exactly.
That "chant" dates back to 1850 circa.

That's what you get for trusting ESPN journalism. Like too much media these days, it's about generating clicks than being accurate. Though this does get there eventually, the title is inherently misleading.

Its a slogan that's used by the far right. Today. So the meaning has changed for many people. We can give him the benefit of the doubt, but it's still highly questionable.

I believe only croats know what that chant really means to them, so judging the player or whatever he did will only show my/our ignorance in the matter.

There's one thing I know, though. The fake political correctness in football is getting tiresome...

You must think you have a sense of humor!

In the meantime, while I take a break from the laughs, I like to say that it would be just dandy if I could find a place where people can talk about something as innocent as football without having to be dragged into a discussion about whatever happened 60 years ago! I am frankly sick and tired of it -- and sick and tired of those who have been trying to milk what was a tragedy for millions in order to advance their dastardly deeds (or sometimes, merely their positions and privileges).

I think just about every angle has been covered here.
