Croatian team called up for Euro Qualifying game against Wales on June 8th and then friendly against Tunisia on June 11th.

Vratari: Lovre Kalinić, Dominik Livaković, Simon Sluga

Braniči: Domagoj Vida, Dejan Lovren, Tin Jedvaj, Borna Barišić, Duje Ćaleta-Car, Karlo Bartolec, Filip Benković, Dario Melnjak

Vezni igrači: Luka Modrić, Ivan Rakitić, Mateo Kovačić, Milan Badelj, Marcelo Brozović, Marko Rog, Mario Pašalić, Filip Bradarić

Napadači: Ivan Perišić, Andrej Kramarić, Ante Rebić, Nikola Vlašić, Josip Brekalo, Bruno Petković

Pretpozivi: Mile Škorić, Mijo Caktaš, Josip Posavec

Nice to see Dario Melnjak called up as he has had a great season since joining Caykur Rizespor. With the injuries to Mitrovic and Vrsaljko and Letica getting no playing time in Club Brugge, this is probably the team i would of called up too. Though i would of put Marko Malenica from NK Osijek on the precall list instead of Posavec.
The Youngsters (Benkovic, Ćaleta-Car, Vlašić and Brekalo) will be joining the U21 team immediately after the Wales game.

I would have called Ivan Santini instead of Bruno Petkovic, after all he had a great season in Belgium. I also think Sosa deserved a chance in the A team already.
And I hope Livakovic gets picked as main goalkeeper. There is no reason to keep Kalinic in the starting 11 if he isn't getting any playing time at all at his club.

The reason Santini struggles to get called up is that he does not hold the ball up as well as Petkovic does. And that player with that kind of profile is needed on this team going forward.
Sosa has barely played this season and has struggled with injuries. He will be part of the U21 squad that plays in the the U21 finals this summer though. I see him more as the future and not the present

No one knows about this player: Adrien Thomasson.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adrien_Thomasson

    https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adrien_Thomasson
"Adrien Thomasson est né d'un père français et d'une mère croate 1. Il possède ainsi la double nationalité et parle les deux langues, bien qu'il déclare avoir « perdu les bases » du croate par manque de pratique 2,3"

He holds the citizenship and he plays in Strasbourg, 12th club in the league.
Better soulution than Filip Bradaric, Marko Rog and Mateo Kovacic who are not that good as people all thought.

Squad was called up for the games against Slovakia and Azerbaijan. Games will be played on September 6th and 9th. Both games are away games.

Vratari: Lovre Kalinić, Dominik Livaković, Simon Sluga

Obrambeni: Domagoj Vida, Dejan Lovren, Tin Jedvaj, Matej Mitrović, Borna Barišić, Karlo Bartolec, Mile Škorić, Dario Melnjak

Vezni: Luka Modrić, Ivan Rakitić, Mateo Kovačić, Milan Badelj, Marcelo Brozović, Mario Pašalić, Nikola Vlašić

Napadači: Ivan Perišić, Ante Rebić, Josip Brekalo, Bruno Petković, Mislav Oršić

Pretpozivi: Andrej Kramarić, Marko Rog, Filip Benković, Mijo Caktaš, Josip Juranović, Antonio Mirko Čolak

    https://hns-cff.hr/news/20369/izbornik-dalic-odabrao-igrace-za-slovacku-i-azerbajdzan/

The new name was Mislav Oršić. I personally would of called up Nikola Katić(Rangers FC) over Mile Škorić. Katić has an NT future, while I don't see much future for Škorić on this NT given his age.

So the highlights form the last 2 games are here. Won the first game in Slovakia 4-0 and then drew away to Azerbaijan 1-1.I think Dalic should of Freshened up the team in the second half against Azerbaijan as they need more energy in that second half.

The tables in Group E are now

Dalic has called the squad for the qualifiers against Hungary(H) and Wales(A). The games will be played October 10th and 13th. Again I think that he would of been better served calling up somebody other then Mile Škorić. I would of called up Mato Barac(Rapid Vienna) or Nikola Katic(Rangers FC). Mind you Katic may be injured as he did not appear in the last 2 games for Rangers. Both are better options to me. With Vrsaljko(Atletico Madrid) and Andrej Kramaric(Hoffenheim) out injured.

Vratari: Dominik Livaković (Dinamo), Lovre Kalinić (Aston Villa), Simon Sluga (Luton Town)

Braniči: Domagoj Vida (Bešiktaš), Dejan Lovren (Liverpool), Tin Jedvaj (Augsburg), Borna Barišić (Rangers), Matej Mitrović (Club Brugge), Dario Melnjak (Rizespor), Mile Škorić (Osijek), Karlo Bartolec (Kobenhavn)

Vezni igrači: Luka Modrić (Real Madrid), Ivan Rakitić (Barcelona), Mateo Kovačić (Chelsea), Milan Badelj (Fiorentina), Marcelo Brozović (Inter), Mario Pašalić (Atalanta), Nikola Vlašić (CSKA Moskva)

Napadači: Ivan Perišić (Bayern), Ante Rebić (Milan), Bruno Petković (Dinamo), Josip Brekalo (Wolfsburg), Mislav Oršić (Dinamo)

Pretpozivi: Marko Rog (Cagliari), Dino Perić (Dinamo), Filip Bradarić (Hajduk), Mijo Caktaš (Hajduk)

The A team has a couple of friendly games against Switzerland and Portugal to be played in Qatar on the 26th and 30th of March. To me this looks like the squad that Dalic will carry to the Euro championships also.

    So Zlatko Dalic called up:
Vratari: Dominik Livaković (Dinamo), Lovre Kalinić (Toulouse), Simon Sluga (Luton Town)

Braniči: Domagoj Vida (Bešiktaš), Dejan Lovren (Liverpool), Tin Jedvaj (Augsburg), Mile Škorić (Osijek), Duje Ćaleta-Car (Marseille), Borna Barišić (Rangers), Šime Vrsaljko (Atletico Madrid), Dario Melnjak (Rizespor)

Vezni igrači: Luka Modrić (Real Madrid), Ivan Rakitić (Barcelona), Mateo Kovačić (Chelsea), Marcelo Brozović (Inter), Milan Badelj (Fiorentina), Nikola Vlašić (CSKA Moskva), Mario Pašalić (Atalanta)

Napadači: Ivan Perišić (Bayern), Ante Rebić (Milan), Josip Brekalo (Wolfsburg), Andrej Kramarić (Hoffenheim), Bruno Petković (Dinamo)

Standby players are Ivo Grbić (Lokomotiva), Josip Juranović (Hajduk), Domagoj Bradarić (Lille), Filip Benković (Bristol City), Filip Bradarić (Celta Vigo), Marko Rog (Cagliari), Mislav Oršić (Dinamo), Mirko Marić (Osijek) i Antonio Mirko Čolak (Rijeka).

Central part still very strong. Mario Pasalic will be one of key players.
Too bad because of Marko Pjaca, Nikola Moro.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikola_Moro

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marko_Pjaca

    Attackers in great shape.

Waiting for Vrsaljko, Caleta Car, Jedvaj as key defenders in the future.

Josip Pivaric finished campaign in Ukraine, maybe some different league for him.

I noticed that only 10 teams at Euro 2020+1 play interesting. Others are very boring.

Interesting and most dangerous teams at Euro:.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_Euro_2020

Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, Netherlands, England, Croatia, Spain, Portugal, France, Germany.

Croatia must be second in the group, so that they get the second team from group E. Probably Sweden or Poland.

Winner of group D gets second team from group F. So, Portugal, Germany, or France. Germany easiest opponent.

On Call : Lovre Kalinić, Mislav Oršić, Mile Škorić, Mijo Caktaš, Kristijan Lovrić

Ivan Rakitic has retired from the NT. We want to thank Ivan Rakitic for everything he has offered the NT. He retires from the NT having earned 106 caps and scored 15 Goals. Hvala Ivan!

Domagoj Bradaric has received his first call up. He is a 20 year old left back(turns 21 in December) and plays his club football in France with LOSC Lille.

Lost our first 2 games to Portugal and France(both games were played away) in the Nations League. with scorelines of 4-1 and 4-2. Bruno Petkovic scored against the Portuguese, while the goal scorers against the French were Dejan Lovren and Josip Brekalo.

Ideal squad for EURO, after all that we saw.

    GOALKEEPER Livakovic, maybe Grbic.
DEFENDERS Uremovic, Caleta Car, Lovren, Bradaric, Vrsaljko. Others are bad, like Vida, Jedvaj, Barisic
CENTRAL PLAYERS Kovacic, Modric, Vlasic, Pasalic, Brozovic. Others are weak like Badelj, Rog.
ATTACKERS Perisic, Brekalo, Kramaric, Rebic. Others are bad like Petkovic, Budimir, Colak...

With this squad, quarterfinals is here against France. Bench is weak.

List of players called by Zlatko Dalic for the games against Turkey(friendly), Sweden and Portugal in November. Most of the call ups are spot on IMO, even though we do not need 3 left backs. I do expect that we will see Rebic and Pongracic on the team once they are cleared to play and are back to fitness. it is good to see Toma Basic get his name on the standby list. As he is someone that should be considered as he has really come into his own at Bordeaux.

Vratari: Dominik Livaković, Simon Sluga and Ivo Grbić

Braniči: Domagoj Vida, Dejan Lovren, Borna Barišić, Duje Ćaleta-Car, Dario Melnjak, Filip Uremović, and Domagoj Bradarić

Vezni: Luka Modrić, Mateo Kovačić, Marcelo Brozović, Milan Badelj, Marko Rog, Mario Pašalić, Nikola Vlašić

Napadači: Ivan Perišić, Andrej Kramarić, Josip Brekalo, Bruno Petković, Mislav Oršić, Ante Budimir

Croatia remains in A League. The relegation would be a disaster. If they can find the ideal squad, this might be good, great at EURO 2020. They looked well in Split against Portugal in the first half-time. Bad decision of keeping 0-0 against Sweden. Not in their mentality to play on draw. At least Sweden gaves 100 percent, watched last minutes against France, really motivated during 3-2 for France. At the end Coman scored because their GK went to help their attackers. Croatia could learn how to achieve good approach, instead of relaxed, lako cemo, mentality.
Anyway, this A League offered great matches overall.:)

Dalic must find great 14,15 players. Skoric demonstrated that he is better than Vida. Domagoj Bradaric, really nice player. Vlasic isn't consistent for that position.

Lost 2 - 1 to Sweden in the nations league(away game) and then lost 3-2 to Portugal(home game) in the Nations League. Played much better in the game against Portugal. Shame that Rog got 2 yellow cards in that game as he was playing really well up to that point.

This team is somewhat in transition with Raktic's retirement. I personally think a Midfield of Brozovic, Modric and Vlasic can work for this team going forward. Even though i think i think that 4-3-3 is not our best formation at this time. It is clear that Bruno Petkovic is not in game shape. I really like what i see out of Ante Budimir right now. He should be on the NT team sheet going forward.

Draw for WC 2020 qualifying was held today(December 7, 2020). Hrvatska drew Slovakia, Russia, Slovenia, Cyrpus and Malta.
This will be only 2nd time in a qualifying group with Slovakia(they were in our 2020 Euro qualifying group).
This is the 3rd time seeing Slovenia in a qualifying group.Slovenia were previously in our 1998 WC qualifying group. So it has been a long time since we have played them in qualifying. They are current coached by Matej Kek, who was HNK Rijeka's coach for 5 years. Those games with them should be difficult.
This is only the 2nd time playing Russia in qualifying. Last time we played them in qualifying was for the 2008 Euro's. Even though we did meet them recently in the 2018 WC.
This will be our first ever qualifying games with Cyprus. I wish them well!
And this will be our 5th qualifying campaign with Malta. We have played more qualifying games with Malta then with any other team. Really hope they earn some points in this qualifying round too.

We will drop points away for sure in this qualifying around as we have done consistently for a while now. This group on paper looks competitive to me and this I expect this will be the last hoorah for some of the veterans like Luka Modric, Milan Badelj, Domagoj Vida, Ivan Perisic and Dejan Lovren. Fixture list will be release tomorrow/today depending on where you live. Games i hear will be played March, September, October and November of 2021

Haha Skoric played the game of his life but he’s not the solution. I agree with Bradaric fast and good technique. For me 18 year old Gvardiol should definitely get a chance. He’s the most talented Croatia defender I have ever seen. For me he plays like he’s 25 years old. No wonder red bull paid so much money for him.

I think it's still soon for promoting Gvardiol to the A team. I'd rather prefer we gave a chance to Erlic, who has been playing consistently in Serie A. Also I hope Vrsaljko gets well soon. Our right flank is definitely exposed with Uremovic.

Uremovic is ok much better then Jedvaj that’s for sure. Not sure about Erlic as I have not watched him play. I have watched Gvardiol in Europa league and he has been not only good but great. I have not seen ever a player in Croatia play at such a high level at only 18 years old.

Games among football managers, typical in Balkan Peninsula.
Read a little why Borna Barisic must play, about his father Stipe Barisic.
Both editions of this Nations League were made so that they can display all sorts of questionable players: Bartolec, Melnjak, Vlasic, Colak, Budimir, Petkovic, Jedvaj, Vida and that they end in better clubs.:D

CSKA Moscow is a weak club, Dinamo Zagreb took points easy in Europa League. Great players who are in shape don't go in East Europe, or Turkey, Greece...they become scouted and end in top 5,6 leagues. They are all followed since their junior stages. But we still see players in late 20's in weaker leagues, clubs.

I saw the body language of Domagoj Bradaric, like he said: "Why do they invite some of these players?" They can't pass to him on that leftside, 2 m behind or ahead.

Lovren knows how to play badly, late, wrong judgement. Vida is so protected, like he is the saint. Silly player, he would sacrifice defence for 2,3 headers in attack. Far from Robert Kovac, Ivica Krizanac, Joseph Simunic defenders who were before them. Even at World Cup 2018, there were mistakes in defence: Denmark, Russia, France.

They have luck with these opponents for Qatar 2022. Much easier, but they will praise them, so that victory looks amazing.:D The coach is in Herzegovina, Dalic is a puppet anyway.

England, Scotland - tough EURO 2021. A lot of air balls, interruptions, corners, headers.

Yes, Gvardiol is great. He and Caleta Car, sometimes with Lovren, Uremovic, with Vrsaljko always, this could work.

Not sure about Pongracic, Juranovic - they seemed good / solid.

Yes, when better clubs pay a lot, this means that he was followed and evaluated as perspective.

Skoric played well against Portugal, it takes more matches to see him. I doubt that better clubs missed him. Osijek is among 3,4 clubs in Croatia. Basically, clubs get a long well with Dinamo Zagreb. When Dinamo needs points: Osijek, Rijeka, Gorica are there. Only Hajduk is honest opponent, maybe Sibenik.

Jedvaj is terrible, how can they keep him in Leverkusen. He is even better on RB position, than on CB positions. Less damage he can make on RB.:D

Interesting, Sutalo is from Osijek club. I doubt that they missed Skoric there.

Sutalo has been shaky since moving to Atalanta. They paid 5 million euros for him which for Osijek is a lot of money. Sutalo has had good performances for under 21 Croatia but has struggled with Italian football.
