true - would like to see him get some opportunties in some future friendlies instead of being thrown in the fire again - i think he can be a potential spot starter in the future...
That's why I said Anchico. Medina is a RB,RM, DM or CB. In a cup with limited roster spots that is insanely attractive. At CB he is too short. I mean I don't get why he gets so much shit he was a utter beast at Nacional. I also don't think he is better then Bocanegra for RB sub spot but Bocanegra isn't as versatile so he didn't go to Copa America.
I think that The Main reason bocanegra Wasnt called up ....si because he played terrible in 2015, The mídale east friedlies

We missed his veteran presence against Argentina in my opinion. Glad to see him getting back some of his confidence and form.
Crazy goal. Happened so fast and off the crossbar. Glad there is technology in Italy cause I think most officials would have missed that.
Honestly I'm very happy for this player. He's brings so much leadership that the NT desperately needs. Good shit!
Glad he's back on form. If Jeison can get back to form (he's still really young for a CB) we have a great group of CB's at our disposal.
It's a pretty deep group even now. Mina is on his way to being world class. Sanchez will be Zapata 2.0 eventually. Oscar Murillo is solid. Even fringe guys like Felipe Aguilar and Eder Balanta are decent. With all of them, it's easy to forget how Jeison was the best defender of Copa '15 and Colombia's lone bright spot.
Jeison went down in form a lot, sucks to see. He was absolutely phenomenal Copa '15. And with the way he started at inter, I thought he was gonna become world class for sure in a year or two.
Don't give up on the man. One bad season won't define him... he still has his whole career ahead of him maybe a change of scenery will do him well, he's very talented and has enormous potential.
That would be mine undoubtedly. It has experience and overall good physical abilities with both, and Mina and Zapata have good reaction and a decent speed to face some of the best attackers out there. Murillo is better technically than Zapata and even Mina but he tends to make more unforced mistakes than them. In my opinion he would be the 4th option after Oscar Murillo.
Since 2014, here are the pairings in CB for WCQ or Copa America games: 1. Zapata/Jeison: 4 games - Copa America 15 (Brazil-W, Venezuela-L; Argentina-L; Peru-D) 2. Zapata/Jeison: 5 games - Copa America 16 (USA-2W; Paraguay-W; Peru-W; Chile-L) 3. Zapata/Jeison: 4 games - 2018 WCQ (Peru-W, Uruguay-L; Argentina-L; Chile-D) 4. Jeison/Oscar: 3 games - 2018 WCQ (Bolivia-W; Venezeula-W; Brazil-L) 5. Yerry/Oscar: 3 games - 2018 WCQ (Paraguay-W; Uruguay-D; Chile-D) 6. Zapata/Yerry: 2 games - 2018 WCQ (Bolivia-W; Ecuador-W) 7. Zapata/Oscar: 1 game - 2018 WCQ (Ecuador-W) 8. Davinson/Jeison: 1 game - 2018 WCQ (Argentina-L) 9. Yerry/Aguilar: 1 game Copa America 2016 (Costa Rica-L) Zapata/Jeison have paired up the most so far since 2014 World Cup (13 games); 17-18 club season will be very interesting to see how Yerry develops further if he goes to Europe. At 6'5 Yerry brings quite a physical presence on set pieces; i would like to see Yerry pair up again with Zapata for the next WCQs so they can get some more games together. these past two games are fresh in our minds but they need to get more games together. even with the "murillo brothers" putting in good performances to date, the CB role is one that i would say we are all comfortable with between CZ-JM-OM-YM starting at any given time... i actually would like to see Davinson feature in the June friendlies, so he can get some minutes in the yellow shirt in a setting where the stakes are not so high as they would be in a WCQ where a result could mean the difference between going to Russia next summer or watching from home...
Davidson is after we qualify. Long term think Mina-Sanchez are the new Yepes -Córdoba. They are going to be rocking our back line for 10+ years But back to Zapata. With Milans new Chinese owners they are going to want big name players. He is wanted in Turkey. He is better off going to a smaller team in Italy.
Who was the last quality defensive midfielder we produced? Leonel alvarez? I mean we have Carlos Sanchez who's career is above average, but not like our falcaos, James, or even zapatas if that. From the top of my head Viafara Aldo leao Abel Aguilar Freddy guarin Jorge banguero Fabian Vargas ... I feel none of these guys are at the level of pogbas, Arturo Vidal, mascherano, even rincón. Leonel felt like he was that good at his prime.
How would you rate Lozano or Serna? I only wish we could have seen the 2010-11 Porto version of Guarin more often.
Better than the viafara's and Fabian Vargas's. Maybe on par with Carlos Sanchez and Abel Side note: Always felt like Guarin was the Chiken who wanted to fly. A natural DM who secretly wanted to be an attacking mid. Like some of his games at inter.
