This. But otherwise, Bill has to be correct. I can't imagine us running our system under these conditions. And if more than two guys' legs turn to rubber late, we're sunk.
What @Jaybir said. Dent tell me, tell the next US team coach standing in the tech area wearing a sweater and getting punked by a POS like Acosta. I'm not endorsing the strategy. Far from it. I'm just saying that we all know exactly what the man will do.
late night open bar wedding in Canton last night. Drove home and packed for brutal work trip, then straight to tailgate. Wife dropping me off at airport straight from game. We do what we must.
This lineup looks ridiculous. BUT....it also looks like Gregg is actually going for goals instead of whatever that bullshit was in last year's first leg vs Toronto. Let's go.
Because it is smart. Look, we would all love a win. And I do not think we will bunker in the conventional sense. But I do think we lack the legs to press NYRB in midfield the way we did vs DC. If we get tired & make poor passes vs that press, it is curtains. We will sit back more than usual and concede possession in their third for the most part. Perhaps a press here & there, but that is it. Draw them out. Make them carry the game more. Hit them on the counter. If we establish possession, then we may knock it around some. But netter safe than sorry should rule the day, especially early.
No Pipa, Sauro, or Hansen. Argudo, Williams, & Mullins instead. Doubt it is 352 with only 2 CBs. Odd for Argudo to start wide, or be in the 18 at all. Makes me think it is 4231 with Zardes wide. He did do it for the Nats for a while. Still, play safe. 0-0 is fine. Go for the win late with the cavalry. Smart stuff. Sick that I am missing this one (wedding). But I am rocking Crew gear (jersey, bag, socks) in Cancun. Give me some good PBP in the thread, likely cannot make the hotel until half (or later).
3 sets of fresh legs and Meram only went 65 or so. Martinez on the bench in for the first time in forever.
That's some crazy ass shit. Hansen and Sosa and Sauro didn't even make the bench. (Is Sosa being punished for his warmup yellow?)
That formation looks like we will try to get RBNY to respect the counter-attack possibility. Zardes by himself, easy to cover. Zardes and Mullins? Now you may to hold an extra player or two from all-out attack. This will be genius or fail fantastically. Is this the ‘benched GBS’ game or something else?
That’s what I’m thinking. The theory is that if two of your midfield attackers who play a lot of minutes aren’t available to start, and your midfield isn’t going to be as dangerous offensively, put a second forward up there and at least force the other team to have an extra guy to defend.
This is the: our best player is 34 and has run his butt off twice in the last week, including for 120 min 3 days ago. He needs rest, game. Argudo has been netter than Sosa centrally, in my view. He is less likely to make a mental gaffe/get too jacked up. He will olay mostly safe and run himself into the ground for 50-60 minutes. Then Pipa comes on.
