MLS Regular Season Match Columbus Crew FC vs Orlando City SC Saturday, April 01 04:00 PM Mapfre Stadium TV: UNIMAS
Win by two, dammit. ORL is undefeated, but has only played two games. They've also yet to play on the road. I'm not used to the Crew being at/near the top of the table, so excuse the over-reaction, but if we win Saturday, we put some distance between ourselves and a conference rival. Big game, and the forecast looks great; mid-50s and partly sunny.
So Mensah supposedly has an MRI scheduled and is questionable for this game. I don't know what that means as far as what our back-line looks like. The one game we were without Mensah so far Gregg went with the 3 man back line. We also have Raitala coming back now, and seeing who starts between him and Francis should be interesting. Larin and Rivas are going to be a handful no matter what formation Gregg chooses here. I'm guessing that Berhalter stays with four at the back just slotting in Crognale for Mensah and probably Raitala for Francis (even though I'd prefer Francis).
I like both our LBs ,Raitala is much bigger so depends who matches up better with whoever Orlando has at RM. Crognale for Mensah appears to be a upgrade. However with Mensah you can play the back line much higher as he has better recovery speed.
I'd go with the 3 man backline v orlando. 2 CBs to mark larin and rivas, crognale roaming in the middle. Orlando lacks width, playing more naturally central players out wide, so they'll play narrow. Francis/raitala and Afful should be able to get forward rather easily.
Our attack should have plenty of space wide unless Orlando changes up something. If we can control the middle third defensively and attack from wide areas we should win.
Add me on fb Jesse Hains I'm recording on Unimas. How will you get it in English , recording it from your seat in the stadium I assume.
Both teams last starting lineups, both in wins at home: Only change I'm seeing is Crognale for Mensah. If Berhalter feels more comfortable using Crognale just in a three back since it worked so well the last time. Then were going with that. If he feels more comfortable using the usual against any offense that were more fearful of then stays the same. DC was the right team to try a change of formation since they couldn't score if there was three goals to try in. I'm having a feeling it's Crognale and therefore we go back to three back. Also, we stick with Waylon because it's a 3 back and Waylon is more the threat offensively than Raitala. Think anyone could see that last week Hurts us much less defensively up farther.
I just got an alert from NBC4 that the ramp from 71 south to Hudson is closed due to a three-car crash. No word on re-opening.
