MLS Regular Season Match Columbus Crew FC vs Atlanta United FC Saturday, July 01 07:30 PM Mapfre Stadium TV: CW Columbus / Spectrum Sports / BCSN2 (Spectrum 311/1311, AT&T 005/1005, WOW! 005/205, DirecTV 053/902, Dish 053/7205, Antenna 53.1) The "long awaited rematch" between a brand new "football" club that thumped us at home at the first game ever played against them... Maybe our defense will show up. Maybe not.
We need a win and we need 7 (hopefully 9) over the next 3 matches. That would put us in a good position and anything less than 6 points would be really bad and this upcoming match is the hardest of the 3.
No Mensah, Afful, or Abu as all are expected to be with Ghana for the friendly vs the US. I don't know if Atlanta is missing any players to Gold Cup prep or not, but those three we are missing don't make me any less confident about winning this match.
Despite our overall angst about the season, this team is doing pretty well* at home. Also, Atlanta, not doing so great away. Crew should win this one. I might also call this a must win if this team wants to think of itself as a playoff caliber team. edit - forgot to add my addendum: *So when you compare to the rest of the league, home record isn't really all that great. It looks good at first glance, but then you see almost the entire league has pretty similar home v away breakdowns.
This is Even Steven's year. Do we go even by winning against an Atlanta team we just lost to? Or do we go even by losing after a big win? Or get a tie just because no one expected it?

There is no bigger mystery than..what the hell is Martinez doing?? He might be in the Bermuda Triangle of soccer players.
Its crazy. Why make his loan permanent, presumably paying some transfer fee, to just throw him away? He doesn't play in pittsburgh or cincy, and sure as shit not here. So... wtf? Most games we only have two attackers on the bench and three fvcking defenders. And abu. Its just odd.
Obviously the sample is small but I really liked what I saw out of Martinez when he played for us. He is/was a very unfinished product but seemed worthwhile. Its looking like Dukas trying to get himself kicked off the roster now so Cristian really should be getting some first team looks now.
It was since deleted, a list showing him near the top of training win percentage. Ostensibly to show that he deserves playing time. Some info in the Dispatch here: http://www.dispatch.com/sports/2017...r--crew-sc-readies-for-advent-of-video-replay
Then GB said there needs to be trust. Duka replied trust goes both ways. Dukas old lady said GB is a snake and cant be trusted. He gone.
Ask GB about practice. Dude takes it so seriously he has power rankings haha. He might take training more seriously than the damn games.
