Nice work on these kits and I am in agreement with everyone else the grey kit is sweet. If the Crew should decide to do something Ohio related I'm really liking the kit with the flag on the sleeve.
If you're actually using MS Paint, then I'd suggest checking out Paint.Net as a much better free alternative.
It's unique how there are no limitations to the creativity of the supporters, unlike the red tape that the FO has to go through to get things marketed through the league or whatnot. For instance, the collaboration of the two guys that did this one (I have the names at home) a crest in itself btw
^This. Coincidentally, we were talking about this during banner painting this weekend and I mentioned that I've always (not literally always, but, like, since 1996) wanted to see a monochrome black Crew kit. Black shirt, black trunks, black socks, black crest, black numbers, black letters, black piping, black everything. Interestingly enough, NY Cosmos (who, despite not being a real team, have with Umbro's help proven themselves to be a totally kick-ass design, styling, and marketing business) are about to officially unveil a new clothing line called the "Blackout" collection. (via EmpireofSoccer blog) [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9x8hvfo7u8"]New York Cosmos: Carlos Alberto Torres talks Blackout‏ - YouTube[/ame] Umbro's not the only one who has recently done this for a team (or, in the case of Cosmos, a imaginary once-and-maybe-someday-again team). Nike did a completely bad-ass version of the Brazil national team shirt that was made available to the public, though not intended to be worn in international competition. Imagine this for the Crew. Seriously, it's up to schlubs like us to imagine it for the Crew. Because who knows if anyone at HSG is capable of imagining things like this for the Crew, and no one at MLS or adidas wants to imagine this for the Crew.
Adidas/MLS/TheCrew doesn't want to do anything that would make us Crew fans happy. They could easily make a third kit, but Columbus isn't cool enough to get one like Seattle or LA. We can imagine all we want, but at the end of the day, its not up to us whether or not our ideas will be put into use.
I'm sure who gets third kits is somewhat dependent on shirt sales. It would be interesting to see leaguewide shirt sales stats; sadly I think we would be pretty low.
is there a way we could seriously show the Crew a third kit we all agree on as an idea (like the gray kit) for them to actually consider? A fan petition or anything?
I have been wanting something like this for YEARS! I think it would be bad ass! Surely it would rival the quality of the three yellow vertical stripes we had back in the day.
Correct, Adidas has some minimum order numbers for doing a run of jerseys, something like 10K. At least that's what Mark McCullers told me in 2008 when I asked him about it.
In that case, sub-thread idea: (Things that will happen before a) Crew Third Jersey. 1) The Nike Kevin Burns' Attacking Soccer Camp
When people are already paying $30 for one ticket I don't think they'll want to buy a $70 jersey also.
