We talk a lot of keeping the Dispatch reporters on the right trail and honest (or something along those lines). So has the reporter answered any direct questions on why he has incorrect information published on the front page of the Honorable Dispatch (besides LaMach-I have my photo as my avatar-ia saying something on the newbie Crew beat writer’s FB)?
I agree. And I suppose it would have been naive to think that we'd get through a stadium project involving public funds in any way without some bad press. I mean, does that ever happen? But life ain't perfect. I think it's also possible that good press can counter the occasional negative stuff, and that the club can play a more proactive role in generating some of that good content. For example, Dee Haslam said the club would be out in the community all the time. So, do that. More of that. More soccer fields and camps in local schools. More and bigger involvement by the Crew Foundation. Do things that show you care about the community and do what you can to gain press coverage for that outreach.
I know I have asked, repeatedly, via social media for a response and have not seen one. Others have said the same. Complete radio silence.
There was a little grumbling when it was announced a percentage of the casino profits were going to be used to bail out the Blue Jackets arena lease instead of to the schools, as was originally promised when the casino was voted in. This nothing-burger story shouldn't even have made it into the paper, let alone the front page.
They say bad press is better than no press. Even with the controversy, maybe this will reduce the number of people that thought the team moved. Maybe this will get more people to realize we have a new stadium being built downtown. I’ll bet the city spends more money on snow removal than any cost over run associated with this stadium. The Crew is a hot topic around town and the dispatch is in the business to sell papers. Move along. Nothing to see here.
https://www.columbuscrewsc.com/groundbreaking Looks like the Savko site is offering their site for parking.
I must say how much I love that Dee is out front for the Haslems. I know that’s how it’s been but I just want to mention it again.
You could blast the clown until you get a response or everyone can just shun him which guy wrote this bad article to a paper i never read ? To a website i don’t pay for ? my Advice comes from Willie D let a hoe be a hoe
Yeah, can't imagine why I'd pay $5 to park in a garage a few blocks away when I can park for free next to the site. Anyway, live stream, several food trucks, beer (with proceeds to go to the club's charitable organization, commemorative merchandise. It's almost as though professionals the running the show.
Welp, I want this: First 500 get one of these little beauties.>> https://t.co/iNoyeaMBe6#Crew96 pic.twitter.com/FjXBp86pRC— The Crew (@ColumbusCrew) October 8, 2019
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUdge I was planning to go, but I have to be home for the kids after school, no later than 2:50. So, was going to skip it. Seeing that shovel, now I've got to go. Might not be able to stick around for the full event, but I think I have to have one of those.
Makes a rebrand seem rather unlikely If a rebrand was coming, i would think the shovel would be more generic (or at least without the logo)
....They used the phrase "little beauties" and called in a mini shovel.... How mini are we talking? Lol this picture makes it look like it could fit in your pocket.
I glanced around at some places that sell gimme shit - excuse me, momentos and souvenir giveaways - and it looks like between 5 1/2 and 8 inches, depending on which one they bought. Still not cheap though - with the imprints you're talking roughly four bucks a pop.
I honestly expected to see a yellow plastic shovel with a Crew sticker on it - which people would have still stood in line for. But nice super sleuthing Bill. It's certainly a way nicer gesture by our ownership than what Threechins did for his invite only event.
