You've already made a better contribution to the Crew Nation than anyone else from WSU ever did. Of course, the bar was set pretty low.
Not sure if this has been discussed yet, but there are apparently changes to the playoff system in the works. From the Crew blast e-mail about First Kick: "Ten teams will qualify for the 2011 MLS Cup Playoffs."
Best advice ever. Do not worship at the alter of the robbie rogers. I hear its like a gateway drug to herion and black market porn.
Haha well everything has to start somewhere right? I will probably do 1 or 2 more Crew videos before the season starts maybe one for Champions League and one for the beginning of the season.
What do all of you have against Weber State? I mean, I understand the hate for the Raiders, any team owned by Al Davis should be despised. But what did poor Weber State do to any of you?
No Crew players at National Team "Camp Cupcake". I was hoping that Rogers, Marshall and Gaven and maybe even Duka would get a call in so they would be match fit for the Concaf game against RSL.
Booo and yay. Ideally, the playoffs SHOULD be the "best of the best" but the more teams that can be in the hunt later in the season, that only means good things for attendance. Bottom line = When it comes to fringe fans being lost to NCAA, NFL, and World Series, MLS playoff races keep people interested. I can certainly understand why MLS wants to keep as many fans coming to games for as late into the season as possible. However, this doesn't look good for TFC's "streak" of playoff-missing.
If it takes a USMNT camp for them to be "fit", they have issues. A professional player should be "fit" year-round, unless injured. http://twitter.com/smitchcd
Absolutely. A good majority of them travel the world immediately after finishing up a mediocre at best season and major knee surgery instead of rehabbing to get bigger and stronger and make sure that knee is better than ever before. I hear that Europe and South America make great two month long vacation destination for MLS disappointments.
Did anybody read this by bob hunter? He really takes the crew to task. http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/sports/stories/2010/12/26/its-time-to-expand.html?sid=101
Yes he did. Can't argue with what he has to say, although a lot of us have said this ad nauseam. For those who don't want to read through it, here's the awards that Hunter gave the Crew: Yes, Yes, Yes and Yes.
Since I really do have the greatest respect for mark McCullers as a guy with a sense of humor, I sincerely hope - and expect - that he will find some opportunity to poke fun at himself for the "we're not rebuilding" remark. Whatever he meant - and I'm certain that he had some point or other - it only served to make him sound like an idiot. You can't dump more than half your starters, including your heart and soul, your greatest-ever player, your longest-serving player and your captain and then claim you're just doing a little redecorating. You know, hanging new drapes, maybe sprucing up the powder room and adding a few knickknacks. He knows better and - more to the point - everybody else does too.
Agreed with everything except the bold. What 6 starters did we drop? Guille, Carroll, Frankie (I rate DannyO higher anyway, but Frankie WAS the starter last year), .....Gino? (not only did he not start, but he wasn't better than Francis), .....Garey? (not a starter, though I could see how if you thought he was better than Lenhart then he could've been a starter if you forgot Mendoza is on our roster (don't worry, Bob did it too!)). I agree that he can't say we're NOT rebuilding, especially when we lose all that leadership in the locker room. I really don't think we'll be as bad as some make it seem- I still think we could compete for a Supporters Shield and we WILL make the playoffs. But it won't be as easy as it has been the last couple years and we'll need to add depth (both for skill and to fill out the roster).
The question mark here is chemistry. No matter whether we had to get rid of the guys or not, no matter if they were starters or not, we lost a lot of players at once, and a lot of guys that had been through several seasons together. Can our "new core" hold things together and take on the leadership mantle?
