Other one was about at the breaking point. Continue discussion of the end of the world as Setanta knows it.
FWIW, and not just in regards to this thread: The way I see it, the new limit goes to 13,000 on Friday the 12th.
San Jose traded Nick Garcia and the rights to Ali Gerba to Toronto for a third-round draft pick. Seriously? Two players, including Nick Garcia who has played every single minute for SJ this season, for a 3rd round pick? San Jose also traded Cam Weaver to Houston for Chris Wondolowski. What's the point? And to make room for Garcia, Toronto waived goalkeeper Greg Sutton. Bizarre.
I searched and didn't find this in another thread... Did you guys see the 6/8 Bill Simmons podcast had Rob Stone on talking about U.S. Soccer and MLS? http://sports.espn.go.com/espnradio/podcast/archive?id=2864045
The Chicago Fire will be visiting the White House on Friday. Moses to Pharoah: "Let my people gooooooooo." Blanco to Obama: "Let my people cooooooome." Shouldn't the defending MLS Champs be the first team to visit the new Prez in the White House?? hmmmm Maybe Obama wants an autographed Blanco jersey, too. What will he trade? What kind of deal will he make?
I know the Scottish Prem agreed to take less money to help Sentanta out. ey could use some commercial breaks during the game.
Tenywa Bonseu sent off in the USOC match against Rochester. Apparently he was going for the ball, but hit a Rhino instead. 1-1 at the end of regulation. Pittsburgh 22', Rochester 90+'.
I think more people were a bit unhappy we handed our best defender from the season to a then-division rival. Duncan was collateral damage in the discussion - the 3 SI rule, and we had Perez, Dunc, T-bone and....
Barack's a WHUFC fan...there was a minor skirmish with our fans and theirs....therefore, Columbus is Barack's enemy. Noone like us, we dont care. Hey, wait...arent WHUFC's owenership group having financial problems? Perhaps Obama will buy them?
It wouldn't be the first time a politician owned a team. "If you're anti-West Ham, then the terrorists have won."
I remember we had to use an allocation to get Bonseu. Chicago claimed they owned his rights from a brief stint with them. I can't remember the other international. Probably Rzepa or Williams or the like. I think Diego Walsh and Pato Aguilera were too young to count as SIs then.
You're all around the right answer. The 2002 Media Guide lists our 3 SI's as Perez, Duncan...and Daniel Torres.
Tonight's Crew Xtra mentioned the possibility of a second MLS team in Toronto. They mentioned "Toronto's great fanbase" while showing video of them tossing their newspapers on our field...Also seen was a portion of the "Two Girls One Cup" banner.
It was during the 15 in 15 segment, about 14-15 minutes into the program. Mitchell said that the league needs new markets, and if NY can't get a second team, then Toronto doesn't stand a chance.
