loved it damn they know how to ruin a game for some people , you can see why parents dont let there kids go. Anyone have the whole movie i would love to get my hands on it
Yeah, it's sad and stupid. And it doesn't make sense. Initially they talk about Arka hooligans, then they show Lech fans and call them Arka hooligans....it's just lame. And it makes it seem like every soccer game in Poland is like that.
LOL its NOT at a soccer game but somewhere else. So why boder? They want to fight and kill themselves - let them as long as they dont do it on the stadium and noone except them will get injured during the fight
Silly movie. But perhaps this article in SPIEGEL might be of interest re: Germany's fear of Polish Hools in upcoming World Cup. http://service.spiegel.de/cache/international/0,1518,397447,00.html
Perhaps I am opening a whole new can of worms here, but why is Holliganism still so big and prevalent in Poland? While I know it still exists and plays a part in most European Leagues, it seems to have calmed down from the 80's and early 90's. When I was in Poland two years ago with my fiance, she would not let me go to a match for fear of the hooligans. It seems as though the hooligans are running the show over there. Why has the PZPN and the government allowed this to happen? In order the game to grow in that country, it has to be able to appeal to the masses and if people simply think of hooliganism when the word "football" is brought up, that does not bode well for the future of the sport over the next decade or two. In talking with my fiance's three nephews who are all between the ages of 8-15, the three of them all seem to enjoy basketball more than football and on top of that, not one of them is even remotely interested in football. I can't help but think this is from the rampant hooliganism in Poland. Is there anything being down to curb the hooliganism?
What a stupid article, really pissed me off. It's articles like that, that start this stupid s**t off anways.
WOW, where to start. Well hooliganism is still prevalent in almost every league, not just Poland. English, Italian, Dutch hools are far worse then Polish. No offense, but your fiance must be really dumb when it comes to Polish football. Hooligans running the show?? wtf are you talking about??? Hooliganism is not really that huge in the stadiums. Going to games is safe. Just because you see a video that happened years ago between Lech and Legia fans which btw those 2 teams hate each other, huge rivals doesn't mean that the Ekstraklasa is a damn war zone between supporters.
First of all, my thoughts and views on this matter did not come from that video. Second of all, my fiance is not dumb. I have heard a number of stories over the years of Polish hooliganism. I just heard another one this weekend from a Polish guy saying there might be trouble in Germany this summer. Despite the fact that I am not in Poland, I feel that these few bad eggs that support Polish football are spoiling a great league for many others. From what I have been told by some people in Poland, these "hooligans" are problematic and keep many potential fans away from the stadiums. Whether you believe it or not, the PZPN needs to do something about this.
It really doesn't happen as often as people would think. I've been to several Legia games in the last 3 years and there has been no hooliganism. If you're afraid of swearing...then you probably don't wanna go....lol Edit: Another thing, about the article, the games I went to were very well attended. People shouldn't be afraid because all the "hooligans" as people would call them are in the standing section on the other side of the stadium. If people don't want any of it they sit on the other side ...plain and simple.
I don't think your fiance is dumb, hell i don't even know her, but when it comes to Polish football, she doesn't know much. You have heard stories, great. So you heard 3-4 stories and Polish football is all bad and hooligan like??? Come on, give me a break. PZPN does alot to stop it. That's why you'll see alot of security at high risk games like Lech/Legia, Wisla/Cracovia, Arka/Lechia. Away fans have their section, which is fenced off. http://www.hejlech.pl/uploads/galery/Sezon_2005-2006/lech_legia_sargon/img_5534.jpg <AWAY FANs Here are some pics of all those hooligans... http://www.hejlech.pl/uploads/galery/Sezon_2005-2006/lech_legia_sargon/img_5606.jpg http://www.hejlech.pl/uploads/galery/Sezon_2005-2006/lech_legia_sargon/img_5360.jpg http://www.hejlech.pl/uploads/galery/Sezon_2005-2006/lech_legia_sargon/img_5383.jpg In that last picture, you'll see alot of fire and smoke. The team doesn't do anything about it, cause all the fans like it and the players love it. Btw, are you even Polish???
That is good to hear that the PZPN is doing a lot to curtail the hooliganism. Perhaps the things I hear from my fiance's family in Poland may not be true and such. I would like to think that is the case as I would like to see the Polish league and the national team continue to grow and be successful. I guess next time I am over there I will need to go watch first hand and judge for myself. As for your question, no, I am not Polish. My fiance is as I have mentioned before, but I have taken an interest in the last three or four years in Polish football. While I am not even close to an expert on Polish football, I am trying to learn more about it. Hence, my asking the question about the hooligans. Thanks for your input on this topic.
The thing you heard was just all bad things, sure they were true, but they made it sound like a few incidents that don't happen all that often happen all the time. Four of my cousins, and a whole bunch of friends have karnet's/season tix to Lech Poznan for years. None of them have ever been beaten up. Where in Poland does your fiances family live?
That could explain why your soon to be family in Poland sees football in a more negative way. Football is not that popular in Zywiec and Bielsko-Biala. Podbeskidzie Bielsko-Biała will drop to div III again anf that's the best they got. On the other side, Gdansk has a good share of hooligans. Gdansk and Gdynia aren't too far apart. Lechia fans hate Arka fans, and those two have been fighting and budding heads for a long time. My suggestion, when you're in Bielsko-Biala, take a trip to Krakow, go see Wisla or Cracovia... try to avoid Wisla vs Cracovia, those do get crazy. If you're looking for a good match in Gdansk, you can check out Lechia Gdansk, it's div II but they have good fans, it's a good experience. Or check out Arka Gdynia... just don't brag that you live in Gdansk
Last time I was in Poland was May 2004. The season had already ended and I was unable to go to a Podbeskidzie match. Howeverk, I did pick up a Podbeskidzie kit while there. Despite the fact that they are not too good, I do support that team the most. They are struggling this season and better come out of the gates playing well in March if they are not to get relegated. Also, when I was in Gdansk, I did pick up a Lechia kit as well. Nice green kit with shorts and all. Good stuff. Thus, I cheer for them as well. I think your idea of going to Krakow would be great! I still have not been there and I would love to see that city and check a Wisla match out. Thanks for the advice with this stuff! It is appreciated! Cheers!
You can also wear anything from Jagiellonia Białystok and Slask Wroclaw since they have a zgode. Btw, what game are those pics from? MLS or the Polish friendly?

Any good places around your new stadium to have Zimne Piwo?
