$50,000 for a trip to western Jamaica? How is that possible? Jamaica's not much more than 100 miles across is it? How can travel bills exceed half a million dollars in a country where pretty much anything is with a three or four (?) hour's drive?

(Looks like the NPL is a league that would be well-served by the elimination of promotion/relegation)

    They're talking Jamaican Dollars. $50,000 JMD = $821 USD.

The total costs for "big" clubs like Arnett Gardens and Harbour View are around 20 million Jamaican dollars according to that article, which is about 328,000 US dollars.

Well, this makes a lot more sense then. How does soccer compare to cricket in Jamaica in terms of popularity?

Well after today, Football is way ahead of cricket -WI 311 and 47 England 333 and 49 won by 10 wickets in the first test at Sabina Park. Embarrassing loss inside 4 days to say the least.

Football has always been more popular than cricket, but cricket is like the National pass time (also the game of the rich folk)-kinda like baseball and Football in the US
