I thought it might be interesting to give a list of countries who have not played full women's internationals. There are 54 in total. By next summer, this will be reduced to at most 48. I will list them by confederation. UEFA (5) Albania Andorra Liechtenstein Luxembourg (have played against club sides) San Marino CONMEBOL (0) none CAF (17) Burundi Cape Verde Chad Comoros Gambia Guinea-Bissau Liberia Madagascar Mauritania Mauritius (have played 2 games of 80 minutes) Niger Rwanda Seychelles (have played 2 games of 80 minutes) Somalia Sudan Tunisia (will play next week in Arab Women's Championship) Zanzibar AFC (22) Afghanistan Bangladesh Bhutan Brunei Cambodia Iraq Kuwait Kyrgyzstan Laos Lebanon (will play next week in Arab Women's Championship) Macao Mongolia Oman Pakistan Qatar Saudi Arabia Sri Lanka Tajikistan Timor-Leste Turkmenistan United Arab Emirates Yemen CONCACAF (9) Aruba (will play in World Cup Qualifiers in May) Cuba (don't they have a women's team?) French Guiana Grenada Montserrat Saint Kitts & Nevis (will play in World Cup Qualifiers in May) Saint-Martin Sint Maarten Turks & Caicos Islands (will play in World Cup Qualifiers in May) OFC (1) Solomon Islands (will play in World Cup Qualifiers next May or June) I know that a lot of the Asian teams have played women's matches at youth level. Does anybody have any other information on theses teams?
The following countries have played at the youth level or in some other form: CAF Liberia(youth) AFC Bangladesh(youth) Iraq(NT - sevens tournament) Krygyzstan(youth) Lebanon(youth) CONCACAF Grenada(NT + youth) St. Kitts/Nevis(NT - 2000 Caribbean Cup) And several teams listed supposedly have teams, yet they haven't played yet. UEFA Andorra Luxembourg CAF Gambia Guinea-Bissau Madagascar Niger AFC Kuwait Laos Oman Pakistan Qatar Sri Lanka Tajikistan Turkmensitan UAE CONCACAF Montserrat most of these countries have a women's coach listed under their information on FIFA.com
Both Grenada & St Kitts/Nevis participated in the last CONCACAF U-19 qualfiying & the 2000 Women's Caribbean Championship. Grenada also participated in the 2002 U-19 qualifying as well.
What is the official reason why Israel plays as UEFA and not as part of Asia? I assume it's because certain other countries in the AFC would not play against them, or because it would not be safe for Israel to travel to those countries.
Obviously not a full international, but the Luxembourg (full team) women's national team played the French U21's and lost 8-0. http://www.mf95.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=276
Laos will play in ASEAN Championship in Myanmar in September. Cuba will play in Caribbean Olympic qualifiers. Luxembourg played EURO qualifiers.
Update , FIFA members who have not played any international matches : UEFA (4) Albania Andorra Liechtenstein Montenegro CAF (8) Cape Verde Chad Gambia Madagascar Mauritius Niger Somalia Sudan AFC (20) Afghanistan Bangladesh Bhutan Brunei Cambodia Iraq Kuwait Kyrgyzstan Laos Macau Mongolia Oman Pakistan Saudi Arabia Sri Lanka Tajikistan Timor Leste Turkmenistan UAE Yemen CONCACAF (2) Cuba Montserrat
In CAF, it should be Mauritania, not Mauritius. If Iraq are not playing in the WAFF Championship, that means Jordan and Lebanon will qualify automatically for the semi-finals.
Laos played first International Women`s match today , they lost 1-13 to Thailand in ASEAN Women`s Championship in Myanmar. Niger also played first International match on 2 September .They lost 10-0 to Burkina Faso in a friendly tournament in Burkina Faso.
Cuba will play their first match in October against British Virgin Islands in Olympic Qualifiers. Sudan have said they will play in October's CECAFA Championship, as have Zanzibar.
Update , FIFA members who have not played any international matches (A matches): UEFA (4) Albania Andorra Liechtenstein Montenegro CAF (7) Cape Verde Chad Gambia Madagascar Mauritius Somalia Sudan AFC (18) Afghanistan Bangladesh Bhutan Brunei Cambodia Iraq Kuwait Macau Mongolia Oman Pakistan Saudi Arabia Sri Lanka Tajikistan Timor Leste Turkmenistan UAE Yemen CONCACAF (1) Montserrat
Kazakhstan is playing in the UEFA. if more Central Asia countries in future? Pakistan 's coach is a Germany women-Monica Staab .
Actually, both Israel, Australia and Kazakhstan moved with their men's team. As far as Central Asia is concerned, it's really small to begin with, and there's not much hope that the teams in question will emerge. I made a Norwegian list over Women's national teams here. jonny63's list seems good, except: I cannot find any list of matches by Burundi, Libya, Rwanda, the Seychelles or Mauritania. Did you omit them, or have they played? As you probably know, Afghanistan has unofficial matches against Pakistani club teams (yes, they have club teams). Bangladesh (I'm just doing highlights of the above mentioned page here) withdrew from the 2006 qualifications, so kudos for trying.
You are right Burundi , Rwanda and Seychelles should be added to the list . Mauritania and Mauritius should be also on the list . Mauritius and Seychelles only have played a 80 min match? Libya seem to have played match(es) ? http://roonba.50webs.com/ Checking Fifa.com Rwanda, Seychelles , Mauritius, Libya, Chad , Gambia , Somalia , Andorra, Afghanistan , Iraq, Sri Lanka , Tajikistan , Timor Leste , Turkmenistan all got women`s national coaches. Wonder what they are doing... maybe involved in youth NT or women`s club football ? Gambia were going to play first NT matches this month but WAFU tournament in Nigeria was cancelled.
Libya have played one match in the past, but now I am not sure if this was football or futsal: 17/02/1998 - Morocco 9-0 Libya, in the Arab Championship in Egypt. They may have played more matches, but if so, the results are not known. I have a feeling that this Championship was played indoors, so I think this may indeed turn out to be a futsal tournament and not football, in which case, Libya has not played any matches. Burundi and Rwanda have played several matches, though for some reason, nobody has recorded the results. They have definitely played against each other, and also against Uganda and possibly other East African nations. One result I do have is Rwanda 3-0 Burundi, from a tournament in 2005 in Uganda. Mauritius and Seychelles have not played any matches with their full national team - the 80 minute matches were played in the CJSOI tournament, which is for youth players (u-18 I believe). UEFA (4) Albania Andorra Liechtenstein Montenegro CAF (10) Cape Verde Chad (are hosting the UNIFFAC Women's Championship in January 2010, so we could see them play their first match) Gambia (have played as a national team only against clubs and selections) Libya (have played futsal matches) Madagascar Mauritania Mauritius (have played only youth international matches) Seychelles (have played only youth international matches) Somalia Sudan AFC (19) Afghanistan (have played only Pakistani provincial teams) Bangladesh (have played with their full national team against the Indian state of Orissa) Bhutan Brunei Cambodia (have played only a youth match against Laos) Iraq (have played international futsal matches only) Kuwait (plan to play in the West Asian Championship in UAE - this year?) Macau Mongolia Oman Pakistan (have played futsal matches against club teams only) Qatar Saudi Arabia Sri Lanka (have played with their u-17 team against the Maldives national team, but this u-17 team is in effect Sri Lanka's national team, as they do not have any older age group national teams) Tajikistan Timor Leste Turkmenistan UAE Yemen CONCACAF (1) Montserrat
Sri Lanka , Bangladesh and Pakistan played all matches in this month`s South Asian Games. Bangladesh finished third, Pakistan fourth and Sri Lanka fifth. Kuwait and UAE will both participate in WAFF Championship that start on 20. February. http://www.the-afc.com/en/member-as...2-jordan-iran-grouped-together-for-waff-cship
