If the qualifiers matches will be define by penalties shootouts, I bet for Paraguay. But, this isn't the case, so the biggest chances in Conmebol are for Perú and Venezuela, they will fight for the 1/2 spot
Hopefully the fans don't do anything stupid either and cost them point deductions or loss of home fixtures, too
it depends on them, im not sold on either team completely yet. Peru at least look a bit more organized now under Gareca but their still lacking imo, they'll have a lot of competition from Venezuela, Ecuador and Uruguay for that 5th spot.
I agree. Just according the title, from those you mention, only Peru & Venezuela missed out WC 2014 and have chances to make Russia 2018
God call, Austria's group is Ireland, Wales, serbia, Moldova, Georgia, so... well one of those teams will go in this thread.... Ditto Poland, who play Romania, Denmark, Kazakhstan, Montenegro, and Armenia... Then you've got groups with Spain and Italy, and Holland and France.... good going FIFA lol!
Denmark and Romania will give Poland some problems but they have as good a chance as any to win that group.
well either way, neither Denmark nor Romania qualified for 2014... the point is those two groups have zero teams in them that played in 2014....
Sweden have a very difficult group with both France and Holland, who I'm sure will be trying to make amends after their Euro trainwreck. Also Iceland and Turkey are in the same group btw Would be hard for both to make it with an unseeded playoff awaiting the runner up. Ukraine and Croatia are also both in that group, too - will be super tight. In fact, maybe so tight that the runner up may be the one that doesn't even make the playoffs. Iraq imo don't have much chance. They are already 2nd to Thailand in their semifinal group, and even should they make the final qualifying round - the lack of home qualifiers are such a disadvantage. They are pretty much stuck between Iraq and a hard place....
Using WGF's percentages, I took half of their second place percentage (giving them a 50-50 shot to qualify as a second place team in UEFA qualifying) and added it to the first place percentage: Poland: 86.9% Iceland: 60.3% Austria: 50.1% Scotland: 49.9% Ireland: 46.3% Wales: 37.9% Turkey: 36.4% Czech Republic: 35.4% Romania: 30.5% Albania: 26.7% Denmark: 26% Slovakia: 25.2% Northern Ireland: 22.7% Hungary: 19.4% Sweden: 15.5% Israel: 14.5% Serbia: 12.8% Cyprus: 7.3% Ukraine: 7.3% Slovenia: 5.9% Everyone else is <5%
