I guess the reasonable expectation is for argentina to win but after how badly they have played anything is possible I guess.

I still think it will be hard for the Ticos. You need a good, experienced defense to stop Argentina, even if they are playing badly. I'm not going to try to predict a scoreline, but it's only a U-22 team for Costa Rica, and Argentina is more desperate than ever for a win.

With that said, I'm rooting for you guys. Given the above factors, if you guys get a tie it would be a bigger accomplishment than what Bolivia or Colombia did. There will be plenty of chances to get a goal on Argentina on the counter, and you have some really fast players up front. If Campbell continues to play as well, then yes, anything is possible.

    no takers?

my guess is Argentina will come out bunkering now that we have seen what kind of scary runs Martinez and Campbell are capable of. If we can shut down Messi (easier said than done) we can keep it a close game into the second half.

They could still go as best 3rd, but yeah definitely out of the Top 2.

Argentina tying would be so funny :)

1-1 or a 1-0 lost on counter attack

    only if Bolivia beats Colombia.

I can only see two things happening at the Arg-CR game:
    1) Argentina wakes up and wins 4-0
    2) Argentina struggling the whole game (like in the others) and squeaking by 1-0.

Costa Rica will give them a fight, but it's still an U-22 team and Argentina is still playing at home. It's unthinkable that they would lose, or tie, at home to a team that isn't "world class" like Brazil or the Colombia of 1993.

If it does happen that Argentina gets eliminated, I'd be interested to see how quickly Sergio Batista resigns. After an hour? after a day? hmm...

    I agree 100% with this.

As much as I would love to see us get a result tomorrow, the odds of that happening are minuscule.

I'm hoping for a good game and a good performance from the young'uns.

what happened to the tradition of playing all final groups games at the same time ,so no one gets an advantage?

this is the same stunt Argentina pulled in 1978.
They play the final group game so they know exactly what they have to do.
or is the copa america different from other big tournies?

They also did it back in Venezuela '07.

    I can't remember for Peru '04.

Agree it should be played at the same time.

def not fixed. Argentina had the hardest group and the tournament was going to be very exciting pre-Japan dropping out. A group of Argentina, Japan(asian champions) and Colombia is pretty tough. The fact that the refs aren't just gifting Argentina and Brazil pks shows this. The red card that Burdisso should have gotten against Colombia was the ref letting things go because Abel Aguilar should have been red carded for Colombia for his tackle on Tevez in the 6th minute.

The refs have been good this tournament, its the soccer has been piss poor.

I for one want Argentina in the 2nd round vs Brazil get these two teams out of the cup early :)

The hardest group? With Colombia (weakest team from pot B), Bolivia and Costa Rica (weakest team from Pot D)? It's hardly the toughest group.

Colombia are guaranteed to win the group, so we have 3 scenarios:

    1) Argentina wins and finishes second in the group. That's means they'll meet team 2 from group C, which will most likely be Uruguay. GREAT QUARTER!

    2) Argentina draws and finishes third in the group. She meets the winner of group B and that won't be Brasil. That means they'll play Paraguay (could be a great game) or Venezuela.

    3) Argentina loses or the draw isn't enough to go further - BYE BYE ARGENTINA! BYE BYE COACH! BYE BYE THE MYTH!

READ !!! IT SAID HAD !!! All the groups were fair but Colombia really kind of a does well/does awful type team that gives Argentina Problems and then the Champions of Asia who had a good world cup and had something extra to play for because of how badly their country is doing. Would have been a good group. But after Japan didn't come its kind of a joke group and any team in this group is just going to be eliminated in the next round. For me Costa Rica has been the best team and its a fing youth team:mad:

mercadeo? tv audiences? antes eran dobletes y ahora que hay que definr algo....les dan tiempo para cuadrar numeros y calcular diferencia de goles?
yesterday.....colom-bolivia, semi vacio....no mas de 3mil fulanos pagando

Probably this is indeedly Traffic's fault and not the teams coming out late and not respecting the half-time like Araujo complained the other day, and considering we have invitees if such was true it shouldn't be a surprise...

    Yes, I live in Argentina.

I don't know how will Messi and Agüero stand in the pitch, maybe Messi in the middle and Agúero on the right but I guess it could also be the other way around.

    Argentina could win....jajaja

for Argentina a loss would leave them in third with 2 pts. this would leave them 90% eliminated, and they would only make it as a best third if Paraguay and Ecuador both lose...in this situation, any result between mexico-uruguay would eliminate argentina

If they tie they end with 3pts, and would be very hard pressed to make it.... In group B if Ecuador or Paraguay win they would have more points than Argentina. In group C a Uruguay victory would leave them ahead of Argentina for third, so too would a Mexico win depending on goal difference
