Definitely an odd upwardly mobile move.

    And a profile from Ives:

Sources tell Goal that Herrera actually picked Corona out as a player he didn't want around when he first took over at Club Tijuana in 2015. Their story goes back to a confrontation that took place when Corona was with Xolos and Herrera was in an earlier stint at Club America. Corona helped Club Tijuana upset Club America, and apparently Herrera didn't take too kindly to Corona's post-game celebrations. He remembered this years later, when he was hired by Club Tijuana, telling Xolos officials that one player he would not be keeping around was Corona.

Though technically on loan for the calendar year, Corona knows full well this move to Club Tijuana could mark the end of his time at Tijuana. Club America has a purchase option tied to the loan, so if Corona winds up thriving with his new team, an extended stay could very well be in the cards.

what a petty reason to freeze a player out!

let this story be another reason why when a player doesnt make it at a club that it isnt always about "talent" or "being good enough".....

If he can beat the odds and start regularly for Club America, I'd think he'd be in the squad for the US in the next competitive camp. By playing for CA, he's in the top 10 biggest clubs of current USMNT players.

Good news for Joe! Just watched a video of el Piojo describing his team and possible starters and it appears Joe has been doing a good job at CDM and is a possible starter when the season begins this weekend.

Am I the only one that noticed his flag is the Mexican flag instead of America's.

Well, he is one of the few Mexican-Americans who counts as a Mexican under Liga MX's 10/8 rule.

Benny started and went 90 in Americas season opener. America won 1-0.
Univision announcers said it was JBC best game in a long time, he was probably the best of the 3 early signings they've had.

Weird comment by the announcer, he played good last season and to be honest he was just ok today. I believe he will get better as the season goes on. I'm pretty sure he was nervous as the second half he did much better. Playing for a big team like America is no joke.

The "Corona Cero: Joe Corona" kit will be iconic (along with the American at America comments).

Club America up 3-1, first half....

JBC looking good...but of course he's playing as a deep-lying central mid shielding the backline basically
