first official match of the season! who's excited!? milan face perugia monday in the third round of the CI. perugia finished 6th in serie b last year, 14 points behind champions carpi. they lost to pescara in the first round of the promotion playoffs. the only player i recognized on their roster is rodrigo taddei. if we win, we will face crotone in the 4th round for a place in the final 16. we haven't won the cup since 2003, but maybe this is the year? we have no europe to complicate the schedule so this would be a good time to make a run.
just looked it up taddei is 35. pirlo is 36. some players just have earlier expiration dates than others

It was a good game. We dominated, which is great, but it is Perugia so gotta take with a grain of salt. Defense looks solid, CBs are reading the game and playing well while FBs are flying up and down the wings. NJD is a beast. Bertolacci does well to win the ball and distribute. Honda/Bacca/Adriano trio was very impressive. They are starting to gel well and know where each other will be and getting used to each other. After the match, Mihajlovic said "Ibra? I prefer to talk about my own players, management knows my requests". Our defense looks set, while our attack looks like it just needed time to mesh together. Honda in trequartista role can play offensively as creator, or can score from wherever BUT he also tracks back and defends. Bacca/Adriano have a nice partnership as well. I'm not sure if Ibra is "needed", I'd be looking more towards another midfielder. Witsel or Soriano, we shall see.
