Católica tied 1-1 with Inter. What was with that red card for D'Alessandro? Did he really insult the lineman for that foul? The draw gave Inter the adventage for now, i don't know if Católica will be able to do it in Brazil.

River won at the Centenario 2-1 over Defensor. With came in very handy because the journalists were repeating over and over today that since the Sudamericana exists River could never win outside Argentina. Let's see if Defensor can make a comeback on the 2nd leg, though it's kind of complicated because not only they lost but River scored 2 being the away side, which means that they need to score at least 2 too.

Except for the Mexico vs. Argentina/Uruguay match (Chivas vs. River/Defensor).

Interesting to see that there is a possibility of having all 4 semifinalist be Argentinean, yet at the same time there is a chance that there will be 0 Argentinean teams in the semifinals.

    Inter X Boca

We have lost bad to Boca in the past, hopefully we've learned from mistakes we made in BA and can make it happen this time. It's a more experienced team and we have key Argentine players like D'alessandro and Guinazu that can make a difference. Also Nilmar and Daniel Carvalho are going to be the offensive line (the same offensive line of Brasil's 2003 U-20 World Cup winning side). So we're in for some great games. The only risk is our goalie (too old) since the sh1thead president sold Renan to Zaragoza.

    Tough matchup for the quarterfinals.

Damn shame for Inter that Boca will probably play with the youth team. They are playing better than our regular starters, so don't get overconfident.

That kind takes the taste way a bit, would be nice to see both sides with their main teams. What Inter is going to field is not a 100% certain yet. We are not doing too good in the Brasileirao right now but we have a small chance. Should we win the next 2 games we'll more likely use the youth team against Boca as well and give priority to Brasileirao. If we lose any of the next games then our chances are gone and sudamericana will became the priority so we'll go at full force. So, we're going to wait to find out. Now the reason for Boca to use the youth team is just because they youth team is doing good on sudamericana? Or has any relationship with Clausura? Since the first game is in Porto Alegre, should the result be favorable to Inter I'm sure they wil call the main players for the BA game. And that should be an interesting game.

It's mostly due to the busy calendar. For example last week Boca played Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, and then Wednesday again. Obviously they can't prioritize everything. In general, Libertadores tends to be a priority over the Argentine tournament, but not Sudamericana.

The funny thing, tough, was that the kids won 1 and tied 1, while the regulars won 1 and lost 2. Well, actually it's not so funny.

Actually, I don't know for sure if they will play the kids. I think they will, because that is what they did against Liga, but we'll see.

It's nice to be able to prioritize Libertadores, for us in Brasil is just so hard to get qualified that teams playing Libertadores and trying to get there have to fight just as hard. Every year is a different selection to make it to Libertadores. In 2009, nobody knows for sure the Brasilian teams that are going to take part on it. Now Boca's calendar is nuts!! Too many games. That can be one of the reasons why the results haven't been the best.

Only 1 non Brasilian or Argentine team left, I can't say I'm surprised though.

Edit: I just realized we could have a Guadalajara v Boca rematch in the semifinals, that would be sweet!

Heh, if that happened it would completely kill this cup... Well not everything is bad news.:D

Also notice that there's the possibility of a River-Boca clash in the semi-final.

What's with brazilian clubs when they face mexican clubs lately? They always have it on the bag yet they suddenly lose it.

I thought San Luis was going to have it easier over Argentinos Juniors, guess not.

All the clashes of the quarter finals look really interesting. It's still hard to pick a candidate to take the cup.

I think the winner of Inter and Boca will be the one to take the cup. River would be a good candidate but they always seem to choke.

Not the case of Internacional, we got some club called Pumas and beat them easy, also on the previous Recopa finals we raped a certain club named Pachuca 4x0 at home on the final game.

I guess it is as long as they are from Argentina. In the libertadores it was possible until we had two Brasilian finals in consecutive years, than everyone started to say that wasn't ok.

Estudiantes with 10 men is kicking Botafogo's ass.

Edit: Now they are both with 10 men. Estudiantes up 2-0 so far.
