I don't see why Universidad de Chile can be considered a "historical club" in Libertadores Cup.

Cobreloa and Colo-Colo are the only 2 Chilean clubs that have reached 2 Libertadores Cup Finals.
Univ.Católica and Unión Española only 1 Final each one.
    Univ.de Chile 0.

I don't consider Sudamericana Cup, that's a less important cup.

I see you are Cobreloa fan, so you can't be too neutral :)

U Chile is 2nd (after Colo Colo) at league titles, with 17 .. Cobreloa only 8. U Chile won Copa Sudamericana in 2011 and is 24th in all time table for Copa Libertadores (after Colo Colo and U Catolica). Colo Colo have 30 participations in Copa Libertadores, 24 for Catolica and 20 for U de Chile, Cobreloa only 13

Univ.de Chile won 17 titles in nearly 90 years. 7 of those titles were before Cobreloa existed. The 8th title was robbed to Univ.Católica in 1994 (even the U fans admit that). Now, considering the last 9 titles, only 3 titles were normal leagues (1 year), and the last 6 titles were short championships (5 months).

Cobreloa won 8 titles in only 38 years, without help of referees. The first 5 titles were normal leagues, and only the last 3 were short championships of 5 months each.

As I said before, Sudamericana is less important than Libertadores. Sudamericana it's like Europe League.

I think you wrong :D First time :

Copa Sudamericana for Copa Libertadores is more as Europa League for UEFA Champions League. For me, Europa League is 50% of Champions League !! Copa Sudamericana is 60% of Copa Libertadores. Why? Look in participating list : In Europa League play teams ranked 4th-7th in biggest leagues or 2nd,3rd and 4th in lower leagues .... champions and best places (in strongest leagues) play only Champions League. This happening in a normal season 2015/16 for example. ... UCL & UEL played in same time. In CONMEBOL, first competition of the year is Copa Libertadores (played in first half of the year), then Copa Sudamericana (second half). Normaly, as in UEFA, a team can not play in both competitions, but in CONMEBOL this is possible : River Plate, Santa Fe, Emelec, Libertad, Nacional, Danubio, Zamora.

Even if the method of qualification for both competitions are different, the teams are same! Again, for me, Copa Sudamericana is (was until 2014) 60% of Copa Libertadores, with UEL only 50% of UCL. After 2014, Sudamericana have little changes in his method of qualification, especially for Brazil (where many bottom clubs from Serie A qualify) or Argentina

Essentially, it has to do with the highest TV money. Think about the biggest leagues in America and the money each one costs, television rights wise. That's what he's after.

I think it's a load of shit though. I wouldn't mind the tournament, but the break down he has is ridiculous.

If somebody want to promote both confederations (CONCACAF & CONMEBOL) .... they can do it in other thing :

Promote Copa Libertadores (heart of Conmebol, never changed their name, not like UEFA Champions League) and CONCACAF Champions League ... give some prize money for teams which participate in groups stage .... how they said (5 mil $ in Copa Libertadores, and maybe 2 - 3 mil $ in Concacaf Champions League) and other money for final phases. Let both leagues to be disputed !!

Then, after these 2 leagues played, create a Pan-America Liga ... with 8 teams (2 groups of 4), all 4 semifinalists in previous Copa Libertadores edition + all 4 semifinalists in previous Concacaf Champions League edition. This can be awesome !!

But don't create a shit tournament with 16 MLS clubs .... and only 1 from Paraguay? wtf .... Paraguayh which have every year 3 teams (99%) in Copa Libertadores, to remain with 1 spot? Why Brazil 16 and Argentina only 10? What is the criteria? A big shit for money !!

Can promote both confederation in other mod, better for clubs, competitions and fans
