cannot wait, will probably miss tomorrow's match but am pulling for Santa Fe ever since that Wilmer Medina late goal sent them through to the quarters good preview here: http://paraguayfootball.wordpress.com/2013/07/01/copa-libertadores-semi-finals-olimpia-vs-santa-fe-preview/ I do like Olimpia to win this one tomorrow 1-0. Santa Fe essentially had a walkover last round and Olimpia's organization. In Colombia next week has the potential to be one of the games of the tournament I like AMineiro to win on the road 2-1 at Newell's. AM have scored 9 goals in 4 games in the knockout rounds after 16 in 6 in the group stage. Newell's conceded 12 in their first 8 games before holding Boca scoreless last round before that wonderful shootout but Boca didn't try to score. I think Mineiro will advance without much drama
SEMIFINALES de Copa Libertadores, partidos de ida: Terminado: Olimpia(PAR) vs Independiente de Santa Fe(COL) 2:0 Goles de Herminio Miranda(de penal) y Juan C.Ferreyra. Fueron expulsados Juan M.Salgueiro(O) y Gustavo Bedoya(ISF). Miércoles 3: Newell's old boys(ARG) vs Atlético-MG(BRA)
Amazing sequences there. 73 min - How the heck did the ball not go in for Newell's?! 76 min - Thought Jo was onside when he scored. Was very close. Maxi with the nice header for 1-0 in the 62nd minute.
looked like Jo was onside, very trifling call but really a great performance by Newell's. Maxi Rodriguez my man of the match and Scocco's free kick was just brilliant. deserved in my opinion. next week we get to see both home teams pressing for two goals
SEMIFINAL, ida: Newell's Old Boys(ARG) 2 Atlético-MG(BRA) 0 Goles de Maximiliano Rodríguez e Ignacio Scocco. SEMIFINALES, vuelta: Martes 9: Independiente de Santa Fe(COL) vs Olimpia(PAR) Miércoles 10: Atlético-MG(BRA) vs Newell's old boys(ARG)
If you're referring to that hand on the football after the Santa Fe goal - well, that was an iffy call. And Santa Cruz did hit the post late in the second. I have a strange feeling that Olimpia is going to take this Libertadores - but if it happens, not because there will be refereeing errors in favor of Olimpia. It will have home field if Newell's advances but not if Atl.-MG reaches the final - however, Olimpia is a tough, experienced, and smart team that knows how to maximize every advantage. It's one of those very annoying teams that you don't want to play. I hope I'm wrong, but still. When Olimpia eliminated Fluminense, Mansur admitted Olimpia had a rotation plan to foul, push, and psych out Fred. It apparently worked well enough. If it's Atl.-MG, Olimpia will not have home field, but neither will it have to contend with the pressure of scoring in Belo Horizonte if Atl.-MG scores in Paraguay. Furthermore, Atl.-MG has shown it's a mortal team after all. If it's Newell's, the last match is at Olimpia's ground, and they faced each other in the group stage. NOB won 3-1 in Rosario, but Olimpia routed NOB 4-1 in the return match, and as good as NOB has shown to be, with World Cup veterans like Heinze and Maxi Rodriguez and a quick and sharp striker like Scocco, I just can't help but think that NOB would fall short in a matchup against Olimpia. But we'll have to wait and see. In 24 hours, we'll know whom Olimpia's opponent will be.
En realidad yo tampoco. No creo que haya entrado 100 %. Y despues no le cobraron un penal a Santa Fe.
Oh please! What does being from Paraguay have to do anything? Leoz isnt even president anymore and our NT gets robbed constantly by officials, so don't give me that because its from Paraguay crap. Besides , Santa Fe's goal didnt even cross the line.
This is dedicated to the "classy" Santa Fe fans who insulted and threw objects at our players before the game...
