Don´t try to convice me it was real football, because it wasn't. What I watched was poor quality football and what it's worse, the likely winner next week, Olimpia, is far from being an outstanding side as a Libertadores champion should be.

most finals in most football comps are terrible

Manchester Utd vs Chelsea for example was just plain shit (as was the Juve vs Milan final in 03)

    Euro 2004
    WC 2006
    WC 2010

point is, finals are usually not pretty

I miss the Intercontinental with its home and away format.
I'd like to see the European champion play in an atmosphere like that one instead of that antiseptic World Club Championship crap.

I agree with this. Playing in front of rabid South American fans isn't for everybody.

What the hell are they so angry about? Only a handful of fans actually caused trouble at the Defensores. If anything the players and most Olimpia fans condemned those few fans for throwing stuff at Ronaldinho.

Sounds like they are just looking for excuses to start trouble. I hope the police in Belo Horizonte take care of this like the police in Asuncion took care of At MG.

I agree, but unfortunately it will never come back because dirty FIFA money talks.

OTOH, the Copa Libertadores final should really be 1 leg. Not right that Olimpia fans can't be there if/when their club wins.

I love it how we get fined for a fan throwing bread at Ronaldinho yet our team are getting death threats and Conmebol isn't doing a damn thing about it.

It makes me sick how unbelievably corrupt Conmebol is.

Bueno hay que ser sincero, la mayoria de los arbitros de la conmebol-por no decir todos- son regulares no mas. Yo diria que regulares tirados a malos, lamentablemente.

For once I agree with you. Conmebol and Concacaf are especially known for having corrupt referees. I hope one day that can change.

As far as Roldan, even though they are all bad they could have put in a referee a tad bit better. Paraguayan teams have had problems with this guy on both club and country level, plus he's Colombian and we just eliminated a Colombian team.

They really couldn't have picked a worse guy to referee this final. I just hope for the best and for a clean game.

There is someone worse than him and that hates Olimpia but thank goodness Amarilla is Paraguayo and he can't referee any of our games, I though the ref from last week did a pretty decent job.

Brazilian media reported that buses with Atletico fans were stopped by olimpia fans after the game, with the end result of one fan shot in the leg:

    http://esporte.uol.com.br/futebol/c...urgia-e-desemprego-para-ver-time-na-final.htm

That is the reason Atletico fans are so pissed off.

I don't think anyone is happy about Roldan. As a reminder, he refereed 3 games with Brazilian teams in this libertadores, and in all three games he called a PK against the Brazilian team, and none in favor. And 2 of the 3 PKs clearly didn't exist (Arsenal against Sao Paulo in Sao Paulo, Fluminense vs Emelec in Ecuador).

No hay ninguna novedad en cuanto a eso último: los de Cerro Porteño apoyarán a Atlético Mineiro y los de Cruzeiro apoyarán a Olimpia.

At least at the first leg, the ref did ok, I would say. He didn't influence the outcome of the game. I hope Roldan does the same tomorrow.
