    Fluminense(BRA) vs Olimpia(PAR)

    Jueves 23:
    Boca Juniors(ARG) vs Newell's old boys(ARG)

    Olimpia(PAR) vs Fluminense(BRA)
La historia hasta ahora ha pesado poco. ¿Olimpia hará pesar la "historia"?

    Newell's old boys(ARG) vs Boca Juniors(ARG)
3er partido consecutivo entre ambos en apenas 7 días. Martino y Bianchi se conocen de memoria.

    Jueves 30:

Asistentes: Haussman(BRA) y Gill(BRA). 4° árbitro: Nascimento(BRA).

    Fluminense(BRA)-Olimpia(PAR)
    Árbitro: Silvera(URU). Asistentes: Espinosa(URU) y Changala(URU). 4° árbitro: Cunha(URU).

Things don't look good for Tijuana going into Brazil needing to win or score 2 goals.

I thought Newell's was very poor. Their goalie, Guzman, was flapping at crosses and constantly giving the ball away when playing with his feet. The occasion was way to big for him, but Boca hardly pressured him in the second half except for a few long shots.

Newell's defenders also gave the ball right back to boca so many times, even really experienced players like Heinze and Mateo...

For Boca, Riquelme was very poor in the second half. He literally couldn't make the final pass. Im sure his conditioning has a lot to do with why he fades in the second half of games

Orion had one amazing save from Scocco, who was very quiet other than that volley

Boca wants no part of Carlos Amarilla, above all he likes to be the show. He'd make himself the figure yet again but probably the other way.

These games should be fun though surely.

Wow, what a crazy shootout!

Congrats to Newell's on making it through, but it's a heartbreaking way to go out for Boca the way it all unfolded.

This competition always produces excitement and real displays of nerves. Looking forward to seeing what happens in the remainder of the games.

How is it heartbreaking? Bianchi wanted to go to penales from the first minute of the first game of the series, he never had any intention of winning it in regular time. Trust me, his strategy has always been to go to penalties. He played a 5-4-0 in the second half

Newell's is the best team in Argentina and it would have been a travesty to lose to a team like Boca that is 19th in the league because they claim it is "too hard" to play two tournaments at once...

I'm glad a coach like Tata Martino who built a project around young players from the youth system, playing a pressing, attacking, passing football... Its just a breath of fresh air in argentine football that haws become very negative in the last 5 years.

Boca winning on penales? We've seen this before... Too many times. I'm glad their luck ran out and I'll have myself a glass of Fernet and cheers to that it doesn't come back to them.

    4°s de final, vuelta(jugando el 1er tiempo):

    Olimpia(PAR) 1 Fluminense(BRA) 1
    Goles de Rhayner(F) y Juan Salgueiro(O).

(mmmmmmmmmmm, NO FUE PENAL!)

Which is why it's heartbreaking. They've basically put their whole season on the line with their entire focus being on making a run in the Libertadores while allowing the league campaign to go as bad as it has gone. It always meant that if they went out of the Copa, then they wouldn't have much to play for in the league once that's all there is left because of the terrible start they had by making it a non priority since they were active in the Libertadores. Besides it's far more heartbreaking to lose a shootout like this with the whole season on the line than losing 4-0 to the same opponent in a competition that you devalued from the beginning of the campaign.

Trust me, I'm happy that Newell's won and they are the better side to have gone through with a sound game plan which many fans can enjoy to watch in comparison to Boca, but it is Boca's fault for letting their whole season come down to one game so early on and to take such a risk by letting a penalty shootout decide it as well, in which their luck ran out as you said. It is their own fault for such a poor approach to the last couple of months relying on the tightest of margins and smallest of details to be on their side to take them all the way in the Libertadores as if what happened in the past will repeat itself every time. They paid the price for it and quite frankly they only have themselves to blame for it. I'm personally happy that Newell's went through, they're probably my favorite pick to take it all this year.
