Group 7 looks to be the potential Group of death.

Potosi still play in the everest stadium?
Flamengo played against Potosi in 2007 and won 1-0 and draw 1-1, but for sure Flamengo is much more stronger now than was in 2007.

I think is too early to define a group of death, but if I have to pick I say 8

Velez is going to have to upgrade offensively if they want to contend. For one thing, el Gishe Franco at CF is not going to do it.

With the information we have now, Santos will have a challenging first group if the winner of the playoff is Internacional - it retains its core and it definitely wants the Copa Libertadores again. Once Caldas is one of the three potential Colombian candidates who will play off against Internacional. If it's indeed Inter, I would bet on Santos and Inter making it out of this group.

Fluminense with a very challenging opening match, at home, against Boca Juniores. Hopefully they'll have earned a round of 16 berth by the time they visit La Bombonera for the return match.

Vasco's only defined opponent is Nacional from Uruguay. Should be tough to play them in Montevideu. This Vasco team had a good season this year, so hopefully they'll be ready for the tough play of Libertadores matches.

Corinthians plays against Cruz Azul of Mexico and two undefined opponents. Always tough to play in Mexico, but hopefully this team will do a good job as the current Brazilian champion.

They need a new fitness trainer, though: after 60 min in both games against U. de Chile they were done physically, looked gassed.

Both Boca and Fluminense should advance, but I'm hoping Arsenal beats Sport Huancayo. It will be a lot more fun to play on the road in Buenos Aires than in the Peruvian highlands.

Fatigue. It was the final run of my country's league and Vasco had been alternating games with the Copa Sul-Americana. If I'm correct, some starters played and some even went on to play against Flamengo this past Sunday.

You mean it'll be a lot more convenient. ;)

Well, I don't know how good either Arsenal or Huancayo are, but Huancayo hosts the second match. This could made a difference. At the same time, Fluminense will probably have an easier time traveling to your capital city to face Arsenal given it'll have done so for the opening match against your club.

Disagree, the mexicans have some good teams and bring value to the competition. Yeah it might be slightly controversial that they compete but so what??? The day they start to let US clubs in the libertadores youll have something to moan about.

I agree. The Mexican league is strong, its fans bring passion, and its teams add to the tournament.

Plus here in the US we can laugh at them when they inevitably flame out. :D

    Please help !
I've been watching Copa Lib, for a long time now, I also follow some of the South American leagues, but still cant figure out how qualification for CL works
    in some of these leagues.
I am wondering if anyone has more info, in regards to , Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay and Chile , who are the teams in contention for those remaining spots.

Just saw Cobreloa beat Colo Colo , I am assuming they will go through as 3rd chilean club, or am I wrong ?

    tnx to all

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_Copa_Libertadores

Have a read of this, it should help you get started. I dont know if you do, but to understand the libertadoes it helps to know how the league system works in south america. I cant speak for all leagues but the process to qualify from argentina is as follows.
    1- Clausura Champion
    2- Apertura Champion
3- 3rd best placed non champion over the apertura/clausura
4- 4th best placed non champion over the apertura/clausura
5- The best performing argentine team in the copa sudamericana that hadnt qualified already by the above methods.

    Hope that helps)))
