The replays from behind did not clearly show the contact, so even though Leo is not a diver at all, even Marca had this to say:

full article in English without videos, but Spanish version has the behind video: https://www.marca.com/en/football/barcelona/2019/01/31/5c522aca22601d5d508b45e4.html

    about the penalty: [IMG]
Barcelona were awarded a penalty in the early stages of the game after Quincy Promes was deemed to have brought down Messi in a decision that was difficult to understand.

The referee, Sanchez Martinez, and the man in charge of VAR, Gonzalez Gonzalez, decided to stick with the call; perhaps they saw an image on in the VAR room that was different to everybody else.

    The controversy continues.

You can actually see the contact from the angle from behind. The contact is when Messi has his foot up winding for the shot or pass. It makes contact with the the side of the Sevilla player's leg. Messi is fully committed with the shot and that flick / contact throws off the movement of his leg on the way down.

^ Obviously people that never kicked a soccer ball in their life. Kicking the ground is not something you do while diving. It results from the back-swing being affected by an external source or from the player just completely getting it wrong. In this case, its pretty damn obvious it was the former.

Went back and watched the match.

Coutinho with the perfectly-placed PK, the badass header. Great assist from Suarez.

Arthur recognizing Rakitic's run and #4 with the touch to see it roll in (great IQ from both). Classy not to celebrate against his former team.

Messi seeing Sergi's run and he takes his chance. Not a remontada without him. ;)

Counter after a Sevilla corner sets up the fifth.

The sixth, the icing on the cake. Six goals, five scorers. Messi's 50th Copa goal. Pure delight and screwing with Sevilla.

I hope this lights a fire under Coutinho and he continues this to play well and earn his place.

    Great performance.

How mad are you guys that Crapitic and Craperto scored? :p

What a great game! I love the drama of cup matches, especially when it goes down to the wire like this one did.
