Schedule: Tournament Overview: Team: Links: http://globoesporte.globo.com/futebol/copa-das-confederacoes/
I guess they want to see who qualifies for the tournament seeing the Gold Cup is last for the final results
Well,it's not like they have any say in this matter, all the blame is on the city itself that probably won't have a stadium ready for the Confed Cup (unless they move it to Morumbi or Palmeiras new stadium).
i dont think CBF lobbied hard enough or threatened the city of SP to get their act together. also doesnt help that the clubs in SP didnt really get going. honestly, only Palmeiras have done anything with respect to their stadium. it will be in a better area but won't quite have the size that the SP deserves for WC games. the fact that fielzao, which is in the middle of nowhere, will be hosting in 2014 really pisses me off lol. i still can't believe it's not Morumbi. whatever, i guess we'll see RJ, Brasilia, PA, and BH hosting the games. looks decent enough i guess.
Mark my word the "Fielzão" will remain a mere "Conto de fadas" A maloqueirada vai fumar a pedra fundamental. rsrsrss
really, what would be really ridiculous is if the new Grêmio Stadium, that will be built in time for the Confederations Cup (unlike the Beira Rio, as already admited by Internacional), isnt chosen for this Confed Cup, considering it will be a brand new stadium, UEFA Standart (better than FIFA), for 53 thousand people (seated... with the chairs removed for the Geral and their Avalanche, in the north of the stadium, capacity is 60 thousand). And from all brazilian stadiums that begun construction last year (Grêmio´s stadium began construction in 20th September), Grêmio´s stadium is the most advanced one. the beams (vigas) of the 2nd floor (which will support the 3rd floor)are already being placed! Official: SP out! http://www.gazetaesportiva.net/noti...pa-das-confederacoes-sao-paulo-esta-fora.html
Not only did SP lose the right to sediar the Confeds, now, we may even lose the abertura to the Copa!!! http://globoesporte.globo.com/futeb...te-risco-de-perder-abertura-da-copa-2014.html Said Sanches: Que burrice!! How did CBF and FIFA not decide all these things in advance?? This is São Paulo... one of the most largest cities in the WORLD!!
.........and a city that get a decent stadium built! The so called giant Corinthians, the second most supported team in the country we are told, have never had their own stadium, or at least one with sufficient capacity. We are told that the Brazilian economy is thriving so why does it take the World Cup for *clubs to start building decent stadia - hopefully in time for 2014 but I would not bet on it (BH apart that is). *With the notable exemption of the Arena da Baixada.
............and not to say signing a 'name' (has been) who spends more time working on dance moves for goals than he does running! I give you RG!
my guess is Arena Palestra will be picked when it is ready in 2013 -- but for the World Cup. It won't be big enough for the Opening game, but SP needs at least a few World Cup games!
it's just how it goes. NYC couldnt build a stadium for their Olympic stadium for 2012 -- which would have then been an NFL stadium.
I'm extremely skeptical with either of the SP club projects (Fielzão and Arena Palestra). Sanchez already admitted that their stadium may not be ready in time for the opening.
You know what guys, the day that I heard that Morumbi was officially excluded from 2014 I knew that this would signal the end of any World Cup games being hosted in São Paulo. You can't rely on a broke and corrupted team like Corinthians to come through on a project like this. They have already failed many times before. Anybody remember what happened in 1982? They were supposed to build a stadium and even had support from Rede Globo and still failed?? The groundbreaking was even broadcasted on Rede Globo live throughout Brazil!!!! This is what Ricardo Teixeira gets for being a corrupted bastard and taking the WC away from a stadium that was already a "reality" Morumbi.
Corinthians having their own super stadium has, as you say, been talked about for 3 years or more! - when Vicente Mattheus was the president. On another note, something that IS being built: a new training facility to host, hopefully, the 2013 and 2014 champions! http://www.cbf.com.br/noticias/selecao-brasileira/2011/5/16/a-nova-casa-da-selecao-brasileira

We have a very very tough group. And this is what I like to see. This will be a good test for the young boys to prepare for the World Cup. It will be interesting to see who Scolari takes into the team. But this groups is a wonderful test for the team ans Scolari.
great draw for brasil they'll play france, england, mexico, japan and italy in the span of a month.. great preparation for world cup.. and might face uruguay and spain if they get out of group and make it to finals []__[]
